Another Round over done and dusted in WAAFL B Grade. Hamersley destroyed Willetton, Scarborough from all reports had a hard faught win over Kelmscott, Wembley were pushed by Maddington and my source tells me North Freo had to pull out all the tricks to get over Collegians.
Some of MrM's fans may have noticed that he has been looking a little weary eyed in the past week. Watching tennis and soccer till the early hours of the morning has taken it's toll on this ageing body. But MrM had no excuses on Saturday, jumping out of bed in order get down early and watch the colts in action.
MrM is never early, nor late, he arrives exactly when he intends to, which is such a coincidence I arrived just on time as the umpire was ready to toss the ball up for the start of the game. It was a new look colts team, with a few regulars being pushed up the grades, it offered a good chance for the younger players to shine.
They started well and continued that theme for the whole game, they led for majority of the day and continued to work hard all over the ground and run over the top of Bullcreek for a win. It's good to see what the young kids can do when given a chance. I'm sure they will keep improving as the season continues to go on and with most the kids eligible to play next season the future the doesn't look to bad.
Our Reserves got under way with a club stalwart M.Greene playing his 200th game. Making his return this season after a 3 year hiatus. Well the reserves played well for the first half playing some good team football. However Bullcreek were to strong in the end as they ran over the top of Wanneroo.
The league game got under way and it was a even game in the first quarter. Big Fraser "I'm better than my brother Andrew" McDougall from Bullcreek was proving to be a handful for our defenders. Scores were very close leading in half time however a few Wanneroo skill and discipline errors meant Bullcreek grabbed a few late goals and led at the main break.
After being urged on from the coach to change the way Wanneroo were playing the game or risk the season being on the line. Well they responded in the premiership quarter as Wanneroo kicked a few goals in a row and started to get on top of Bullcreek. The bomber boys did respond kicking a few goals of their own though as Wanneroo had a slim margin at the three quarter time break.
With the crowd in full voice and the Wanneroo players starting to get up and about they ended up on top and never looked back as they kicked a few more goals to be 40 points up and back to the way they played earlier on in the season.
Wanneroo now only sit 1 game and percentage outside the Top5 and 2 games and percentage clear of the relegation zone, time will tell if they can sneak into the finals. It loos like a close race for positions 4-8.
I wouldn't mind hearing from some other games.
Ps sorry for the short and succinct write up MrM is again at it watching some tennis.
