True Alnan23, the WAAFL tribunal is a bit of a joke but without video or radio commentary, they have to go by witness statements to resolve any disputes. In this case, it was the Canning Vale umpire and their Captain. In most circumstances, these two would be the most honourable people to provide statements which they did and the tribunal acted accordingly. They have set criteria for indescretions and they applied them. The Captain and the umpire could very easily have provided biased statements, which obviously their president wanted them to but they showed true character and I commend them for it.

Until every football game is video taped which will never happen, tribunals can only act on ethically correct people. If people start to lie to suit their club then football will be stuffed. In fact, the criteria for this sets a two week suspension at most. Methinks the extra week was just to shut the president up which didn't work. People shouldn't pick on Loves-A-Goal as he just following the morally bankrupt president. In my book, the captain is one person that Damo should be proud of and he is the one that is setting the standard of the community that WAAFL football is.

Its interesting how this happens in regards to tribunal investigations, we had an incident at our club last year where a player was booked and reported based on notice of investigation, that clubs umpire was umpiring the incident and did nothing at the time (no free, card or anything) and no opposition players even remonstrated with the player from our club.

A notice was lodged because the young lad ended up with a busted jaw. The tribunal listened to all evidence and in summary told our player the following:

Your attack on the ball was spot on, and the way you play your football is correct, you were unfortunate and we would expect in the same situation you would do the same thing. They then went on to say someone has to be accountable and as such because the said player has a busted jaw we are giving you three weeks. Needless to say we were concerned because the tribunal was telling him they liked the way he plays and expect him to do similar next time, yet he still got three weeks.......Puzzling but we all moved on.

I think as far as this is concerned someone has been rubbed out because the association is litigating against injuries and is worried about getting sued or something like that. Accidents do happen playing sport, and we all know that. I have read no where that this incident caused an all in brawl with haymakers being thrown, and as such it should get treated as an accident.

people getting on here or the radio to stir emotions doesn't help. Move on people and hopefully calmer heads at both clubs will smoke the peace pipe and move both clubs forward which is what needs to happen

Woah, evening gentlemen.

To get a few things straight;

1. There was a Yellow issued on the day from our Umpire
2. The CV guys immediately stuck up for Damo after the incident and remonstrated with the player, our Captain chose to usher us off the field to avoid further tensions.
3. I had no intentions to delete my last post after the incident, the site admin must have done it.
4. I wasn't trying to stir anyone haha, merely point out to my fellow bloggers that some accountability had been delivered, albeit far less than what I thought was due.

You're all right though. The aim from here is to make sure as a club we can support Damo and his family as much as we humanly can as the battle for him doesn't end tomorrow, this weekend, THREE WEEKS from now, or even by Christmas.... He is in it for the long haul and so are we...
Loves kicking goals, passing them off is only an option.

Leather poisoning wrote: Obviously 'high pants', swanky, dicky boy & other muppets like 'fair bump' (which even blind Freddy could see it wasn't) are not the ones who have lost a great teammate and friend to the worst injury imaginable to any footballer.......

Woah.... Ease up there cowboy calling me a muppet... I wasn't there so I didn't pass judgement; I just commented on the fact that names and numbers were being publicly displayed on a website as if to encourage people to hunt this guy down and take out a vigilante style revenge.

You don't know me and obviously don't know my history or you wouldn't be making such a statement. It is emotional. Terribly so.

Thoughts to Damo, family and friends and wishing him all the best in the recovery battle.

DB.
