Well another Round done and dusted. A few shock results. Sorry for the delay in the write up, other activities have gotten the better of MrM's time.

I enjoyed the lovely trip up to Collegians on Saturday, luckily MrM was smart enough to bring a jacket to the game as I nearly tore a hole in my shirt with my frozen nipples with the cold breeze that was blowing at Dalkeith Oval.

I was expecting 3 "Simons" from Wanneroo on Saturday but I was left disappointed. I was also expecting a decent canteen and facilities but I was again let down.

The young colts were beaten by a Collegians team that included 15 guys with the worst haircuts MrM has ever seen. Wanneroo started out well but in the end the team that was willing to bend over and pick up the football was the team that won. If you're not willing to pick up the ball how can you expect to win a game of football. I'm sure the young colts players will continue to work hard as a team and improve each week with 2 very winnable games coming up.

The Reserves were depleted from the outset with last minute call ups and a colts player having to double up. They also started well but in the end it just wasn't enough to get over the line, even with a comeback bigger than John Farnham's it wasn't the spark they needed to get the win. MrM hopes the comeback tour he witnessed wasn't a one off show and that we can have a farewell tour for the remainder of the season.

Mr Mysterious day was about to go from and to worse when I ventured to The Canteen or I think it was called "Daves Deli". Well if Rob Broadfield or Gail Williams (Google who they are) visited this so called Deli then they wouldn't get any score above 2/20. No hamburgers, NO HOT CHIPS, no sausage rolls (sold out) no decent food on offer, just a pie and a hot dog. I went to purchase a powerade from the bar, ALL GONE. Canteen gets 2/10 from me. 2 points for service zero points for anything else.

Our league side followed the theme of the day and started off well but fell into the trap of thinking that this game might be to easy for them. Wanneroo and Collegians went goal for goal but after the first quarter that's where it stopped.Collegians played well in the second quarter and it looked like they would burst the game open. A little scuffle broke out between two players with the Collegians crowd getting stuck into the Wanneroo player for the rest of the game. Not sure how the crowd found out the Wanneroo players name, if it was from the team sheet that the Collegians Manager may have given them then that's no good.
Collegians were leading at half time but I knew Wanneroo would come out firing in the second half.
Sadly it wasn't to be as Wanneroo didn't come out to play as I expected. 2 shoulder injuries to Wanneroo players, including a big dislocation meant we were down to 2 players on the bench. After a nice rev up from the coach at 3 quarter time it seemed to have a minor effect with Wanneroo kicking the first goal of the last but again Collegians came back.
A little melee broke out in the middle of the field, I won't go into to much detail (basically due to tribunal hearings still to take place, I wouldn't want to ruin anyone's chances) however plenty of fists were flying around and 2 Wanneroo players were given Red Cards. I thought both were warranted and deserved but I can't work out how no Collegians players were given any cards. The situation wasn't helped by the Collegians crowd as they were vocal and inciting more action. They were armed with ugly haircuts and vodka cruisers, they were a really tough lot. Luckily the Collegians boys that were supporting didn't want to come fight as most of us feared, as they soon retreated and found comfort in each other's arms.

MrM doesn't like to complain, but if you're going to let your club members break the law then you'd need to have a look at yourself and change. Young players drinking outside the licensed area. Sitting to close to the boundary line. No to mention the goal post padding that wouldn't protect anybody if they ran into it.
Hopefully it rains when Collegians come to Wanneroo as I heard that they supplied no shelter for Wanneroo, we had to provide our own and grab more chairs than the 4 they put out.

With no players left on Wanneroo's bench and some players battling injuries on the ground Collegians ran away with the game. Many Wanneroo players let the team down on the weekend so hopefully they can rebound and play bigger roles later in the year. Or maybe a MrM comeback is what they need to kick into gear.

I wouldn't mind hearing from some others. As much as I like talking to myself I am open to discussions.

Haha, are you suggesting that the Waneroo boys were looking for a fight at the end of the game? Very interesting

I am in no way suggesting that Wanneroo were looking for a fight after the game, I was talking about in game when a Collegians supporter yelled out "come here and we can sort it out". I think he was talking to the Wanneroo crowd but I couldn't be sure.

Mr M

Was there a 3 goal play for Collegians amongst all the goings on in the last qtr?

As im sure you can appreciate I was a little preoccupied watching the how-do-you-do on the outer wing. There seemed to be a lot of goal flag waving without a centre bounce occurring.

I liked the crazy old waneroo supporter sitting by himself on his fold out chair yelling out on a rant about collegians and telling them they are all virgins. Also, that guy who got sent off, i think 14, was an absolute tosser.... summed up by him kicking a goal heading into half time and yelling "F*** OFF YOU C****!!!!!!!" at collegians 19th man on the couches, then not seeing him near the footy for the rest of the game.

Also, the guy who was getting heckled all day by the 19th man was asking for it after he got in a little scuffle with one of the collegians boys right infront of the crowd and then proceeded to blow a kiss at the young lads. Added fuel to the fire and you could tell by the end of the game his confidence was so shattered that he would have been begging to have his time again.

A very entertaining game.

MrM how did your MOTR turn out? Looks as though it was a close one.

MrM asked for some robust discussions and he got it. I'll respond to all now.

Voice from the outer. MrM isn't sure. But I know Collegians were awarded a double goal a result from some on field incidents. They kicked a goal then Wanneroo gave away a free kick and Collegians kicked another.

King Pig not sure who the old man was calling out, but was he right? Or was he wrong?
I don't mind people calling out with such great one liners of "number 22 that's your goal" or my old favourite "first kicks always the hardest mate" but when you use the persons name it becomes personal MrM doesn't want things to get ugly between players and supporters, it is only Amateur football remember.
That being said I am responsible for one of the greatest sledges of all time in WAAFL Football so I know how much they can get to you. MrM dished out many wity one liners and was always happy to get them back so if you do call out expect to get it back.
I can't defend what others said or defend their actions but MrM is satisfied with your response. To be honest it was an awful game of football from both sides and if the fight didn't happen I'd have very little to discuss and the Canteen would have been torn to shreds in my post match breakdown.

Dirk Diggler, you win some and you lose some with match of the round. Just look at Sydney vs Geelong. That was MOTR and it was also a fizzer. I remember when they had similar scores in a C Grade Preliminary final a few years before. That day Bullcreek copped a bath and MrM was their to witness it.

The game wasn't that boring. Surely you must have been excited by Collegians full forward "The Colonel" kicking 7 goals out of his arse and lifting the 19th man off their feet?

I forgot about the gent who kicked 7 goals. It was a good performance. In an otherwise awful game

Another great write up MrM.

I agree with your thoughts on the canteen and lack of chairs or anything else at Dalkieth.

On a serious note, Is Collegians or their local Council any plans for a new facility at the ground?

It's a premium location but even the members must want something new?

Anyone?
