Kingsway vs Ocean Ridge - Tough day with a strong wind blowing to the Western end of the ground all day with frequent showers falling throughout the day

Colts

Kingsway jumped Ridge early kicking 5 goals to 1 in the opening term and didnt look back after that winning by 13 goals to remain unbeaten. Kingsway wore the special blue jumpers as part of the beyond blue day they were hosting and they certainly looked the part

Reserves

The much anticipated clash bewteen the 2 x unbeaten teams although the game turned out to be a fizzer with Kingsway winning by 10 goals in a very 1 sided clash that was over by half time when the roos led by 9 goals.

League

Tight hard contest with Ridge certainly up to it in the 1st half with only a goal seperating the teams at 1/2 time however as they have done all season, Kingsway came out after halftime and blew Ridge off the park to win by 13 goals to cement there spot at the top of the table

The next 2 weeks will certainly see if Kingsway are a cut above the rest with games against Stirling & Kingsley which i know the Kingsway boys are really looking forward to

Also a big congratulations to all involved at Kingsway with the beyond blue day that raised a fair amount of money for the organisation and certainly put the word out there about depression and youth suicide. One point though is that i couldnt bring myself to have a middy of the blue beer on sale although the reports back was that it tasted pretty good. Also it was good to see a number of Ridge players & supporters stick around and support the day as well.

A nice solid win in tough conditions for the stirling saints against the Melville snipers who seem to like playing the man instead of going for the ball , if they put their head over the ball the result would of been a lot closer

Melville vs Stirling

Colts - The young Ramlings got the points against what seemed like an undermanned Stirling side. Not ideal conditions for football but Melville had more run and were a bit cleaner at ground level and that got them across the line. Stirling have some handy young players, .The mullet also seems to be alive and well amongst the Saints youngsters with a special mention to number 14 who had a fair bit of action going on out the back.

Reserves - Good game of reserves football for those who braved the weather, with Melville getting their second win of the year. There was never more than 2 goals in it until the final siren, and Stirling looked to cause the upset with the first couple of goals of the third. But Melville managed to settle, mainly due to a couple of freakish goals by a Melville colt who was filling in, to win by a few goals.

League - Stirling too strong across the ground for a Melville side hit by injuries and down on confidence. Stirling are certainly hitting their straps in C1 and are stringing together some handy victories. The bigger bodies of Stirling handled the conditions better, seemed harder at the ball and made the most of the chances they had. Stirling now look to the clash with ladder leaders Kingsway next week, with the Rams headed to High Wycombe to keep their season alive and get out of the relegation zone.

Not sure what game you were watching Houdini but there was no 'sniping' from where I was sitting. Football is still a contact sport (apparently) and on the small Melville ground there is always going to be collisions.

Houdidn was their coach carrying on like a broken record on the sidelines?????? he was disgraceful when they played us, maybe that lack of discipline is rubbing onto his players?????

We had a tough game against Quinns, in some of the most difficult conditions I have seen at a footy game.

Was close for the whole game, with both sides really cracking in and having a contest.

Thanks for hanging around for a beer boys, we will return the favour later in the year

he carried on a bit , i just thought melville were a skillful aggressive side and i thought that if more aggression was directed at the ball instead of the man they would be more higher on the ladder , i dont think melville are the worst side in C1 by far and it would be sad to see them relegated to C2 , i belive with a bit of tinkering/fine tuning they can avoid the drop , they still have time and plenty of games in hand to move up the ladder

Down at the old wyong mup pit i must say that the cricket pitch held up just nicely. The doggies kicked the first couple before canning got a couple late. early in the second canning then switched on to kick the next couple before scores were tied with 2 mins to go before half time then the dogs went bang and kicked 3 to go into the break with their nose infront. the second half was much the same with canning always getting back in it before the doggies would peg back a couple. canning missing a few once again gave the opportunity for some of the twos to step up. the missing of their big ruck man and some handy mids the result could of been alot worse off but they stuck in there. with the WAFL bye the doggies picked up some handy players from swans that made the difference at the end of the day.

KTB, yes that reserves score is accurate. the goal kicked by Quinns was scored in the last 10 seconds of the game.

Conditions wise it was probably as tough as I have seen it at the footy, the breeze was blowing everything to one side of the ground due to the northerly weather, and with the rain we had at times you could not see half way across the oval.

At least the game was nice and close all day
