Any write ups from the games? Stirling smashed canning which I don't think anyone expected?
Kingsway seem to be the team to beat at the moment with no one even getting close to them

Fantastic game between Lynwood and Melville. Good, tough game with neither side taking a backward step. Lead changed several times through out the day with Lynwood being in front when it counted. Should make a cracking game in Rnd 2 when they play on the smaller ground at Melville.

Ridge v Gosnells

A tale of two halfs in this game. Ridge came to play in the first half being 10 goals up at half time with Gosnells turnovers costing them on the rebound. Some really good footy played by Ridge in the first half was all undone when Gosnells played a lot better in the 2nd half. Seemed like Ridge thought they had it won from half time with the intensity dropping after the main break. Credit to Gossies who stuck around for a few beers after the game!

Keen to hear about the Stirling and Canning game? Few injuries mixed with GTM or Stirling just starting to hit their straps?

After seeing Stirling play on the w/e they seem very similar to Kingsway. They ran hard for each other all day. Canning kept it within a few goals until the last quarter when Stirling put their foot down and kicked away. Taking nothing away from stirling but canning did have about 7 of their better league players out.

Looking at the scores it seemed like it was more the third quarter that Stirling did the damage? They were 9 goals down at 3qtr time

Stirling v Canning

Talk was Cannng to start quickly after their slow start the week prior. Unfortunately for them, they started slowly, eased off through the middle stages, and then slowed to a crawl at the end. Game was all but over 15 minutes in, Stirling numerous forward entries, Canning made to look respectable by their freak full forward, no 17. Marked everything and doesn't miss in front of goals. A serious talent. 4 straight at quarter time for Cannng, probably from 4 forward entries.
Only interest after quarter time was when would Canning kck a point. Apart from the full forward and the big fella in the middle, not much on the park for Canning, completely outplayed in 16 of 18 positions.

The number 17 your reffering to had an outstanding season last year and canning were lucky to get him back after trying out for Peel Thunder and successful making the team, and after 4-5 games in the res at Peel he was ask to go back and find some form. No doubt after his performance the last couple of weeks he should get the call up. canning aslo had another Peel player play for them on the weekend but did his knee within the first 5mins of the game.
A couple of injuries and the GTM festival on the weekend did not help with like BigOrse said there were up to 7-8 changes in the league team filtered by the two's and there 3'rds side. NO excuses tho i think that it is importent that all clubs push all players to play in there number one side.
I take nothing away from Stirling, they played well moved the ball and used each other around the ground well.

that wouldn't be Curtis would it KTB? very handy player. played with him and his brothers for a few years and played against them last year . all of them can take mark of the year at any point and always know where the goals are.

Sure is mate. A very good talented player. Also tried out for that FOX8 program the Recruit.

Kingsway Vs Quinns

Colts - I didnt arrive until just before 1/2 time at which time Kingsway had a 6 goal lead which they increased to nearly 10 goals by games end. Both sides missing a few due to GTM i believe but Kingsway looked pretty sharp with who they had on the park. 2nd time around when both are at full strength will give a better indication closer to finals

Reserves - Tough for Quinns as they had a few players from the colts back up to the ressies and they were never in the hunt. Kingsway very slick across the park in not ideal conditions

League - Very similar to Kingsways 1st 3 games in that it was close for a 1/2 before the Roos clicked into gear in the 2nd half to produce another 10+ goal win. Scary part is that Kingsway havent produced a solid 4 qtr effort yet and have blown away each side they have met although the next 4 weeks should be a good test starting with Gossies this week followed by Ocean Ridge, Stirling and Kingsley.

Kingsway's 3rd's had another big win as well so things are looking pretty rosy at Kingsway reserve so far this year
