Do players still have the right to defend themselves? Real questions need to be asked in lower grades about this situation. Observed a good game of local footy a few weeks ago, however during the game I noticed players being punched / wrestled off the ball. Unfortunately as usual the retaliating players suffer the consequences as always happens. But in situations where club umpires are involved and officiating and control the situation extremely well and the game gets played out well hard fought and in good spirit. It becomes really confusing when clubs can fabricate the situation to suit themselves and call for an Independant investigation. Which clearly being truthful in your responses and description of the event means nothing. And to the Clubs instigating the investigation at least be fair in your assessment of the incident. Taking this road can make your club look like whinging, weak and most of all unsportsmen like. So obviously we don't want to see thuggery in our game but when a young bloke is being whacked off the play for nearly half a game of footy and he finally decides enough is enough and decides to look after himself. For him then to have to go through an Investigation and cop a suspension, with the older / more experienced player dishing out the nonsense not only to be exhonourated at the hearing but to actually call for the investigation is an absolute joke. Disappointing how one self proclaimed tough guy who gets put on his bum by a kid can make his club look pretty ordinary.

Nice rant Observer69. I notice it is your first ever post. If you want to sound off on this forum how about stating some facts and club names instead of talking in circles and not really making any clearly understandable point!!

Sorry for the perceived rant, just gets me that a player and his club think its okay for him to punch blokes off the ball behind play, but when he gets a little sugar of his own he squeals like a little girl. If you good enough to serve it up them you should be MAN enough to cop it back. Obviously this bloke and club don't share that opinion otherwise nothing would have been taken further, as I said before makes his club look very, very WEAK

Observer69 like Major im asking the same question? Which clubs were involved here? To just use generic examples isnt providing anyone with any information and it could make you look like a whinger for bringing half this information to our attention and not the whole lot.

At the end of the day blokes need to be smarter in the way they square up, It can be done without getting caught.

Care to share a bit more with us? if you wont name clubs maybe name the grade at least?

The game is called Football and I don't think you need to go out and play with some jerk punching you in the back of the head 70 Meters behind the play. If you think that this is acceptable Ph then obviously you share a very different view on the game to me. Anyway no need to name the club or grade they know how they are and I am sure karma and longevity of the season will catch up with them.

So this forum is happy with blokes getting punched behind play? And also happy for the bloke getting punched to do nothing about it? Or if he does then he should get suspended while the other bloke walks away with nothing? If you blokes responding are being serious I will be very surprised. Fwits!!!
