So another round of footy has come and gone, with some interesting results a couple of big margins and a couple of close ones. We should start to see who is going to be the better sides in the next couple of rounds with a few good matches coming in the next couple of weeks. The perfect 5/5 this week!

Stirling 10-12 72 beat Lynwood 9-12 66

CVSP 14-11 95 beat Kingsley 13-10 88

Kingsway 17-13 115 beat Melville 3-1 19

Gosnells 15-10 100 beat Quinns 8-15 63

Ridge 21-8 134 beat High Wycombe 3-6 24

Ridge v HW

Colts
Got down to watch the colts game just before half time with HW taking the lead at the main break by 4 goals. After half time Ridge had their chances but couldn't convert with HW rebounding and scoring more times than not.

Reserves
Was a good game of footy with Ridge coming out on top (which is always good ;) HW had a few quality players but seem to be lacking a bit of depth with in the club. Have noticed a few clearances going out of HW this year.

League
We were expecting a quality close game in slippery wet conditions with constant dribble across 3 quarters. We adapted to the conditions alot quicker than HW did and being 5 goals up at Q time we never looked back from there. Was good to see a good 4 Q effort from the fellas. With a few players coming into all sides in the next couple of weeks should make for some good games in the next couple of rnds.

Any reviews from any of the other games?
Surely more people can post some stuff on here?

3 convincing wins by kingsway over Melville

Colts

Kingsway in control pretty much from the start and again the same as the week before, had nearly 40 shots on goal although kicked 14.25 but limited the opposition to just 4 goals to win comfortably. Melville were a very young side and if they can stick together for a couple of years they will certainly improve. kingsway appear to have a stronger side than the 1 that lost the grand final last year and could be very hard to stop.

Reserves

Again kingsway Got the jump on their opponents to open up a big qtr time lead and went on with it to win by 120 odd points. Melville a shadow of the side from last year and were certainly run off there legs by a fitter kingsway side. 2 wins by over 20 goals shows that they will also be around when the whips are cracking at seasons end

League

Another big win to the home side in a sometimes scrappy affair that was pretty close until 1/2 time until kingsway turned up the pressure in the 2nd half to smash Melville all over the ground to run out 96 point winners. Kingsway look to be a very even team with no real standouts and played the big ground well. Melville struggled on the big ground considering they are used to playing on an oval 1/2 the size.

The kingsway 3rds won by 15 goals as well so all in all a pretty convincing day for all 4 teams at the Roos

Did some of the Quinns boys miss the flight to Gossnells?

Stirling vs Lynwood was a scrappy game in both.
Stirling league was up by 5 goals with about 10 minutes to go in the last and looked like they didn't know how to win the game and choked a bit. Could have gone on to win it by 10+ goals but only just ended up winning!!

The ressies seemed to be filled with a fair few colts as well!! Not sure they will even have a colts side by the end of the year which will help the ressies but won't be good for the club!!!

fair writeup of Saturdays games sledge. Agree it was played in good spirits, and we thought that when you got 5 in front with a few injuries we might get blown away. To our boys credit we hung in there and with a bit of luck in the last minute or two we may have gotten closer, but at the end of the day the side that lead all day managed to get the win.

Cheers to your club and the hospitality, cheers for the beers in the rooms afterwards, we will return the favour in round 2 at Lynwood.

The new canning colts held on for a 5 point win over kingsley

In the res game, kingsley held off canning's hard last qtr to win by 10 points.

And in the main game, Canning were 5 or 6 goals up going into the last qtr before kingsley went bang and kicked the next 5 to bring it back to a couple of points, missed some easy shots and the canning boys looked tired. Canning got one home just before the final siren to get their first win in C1 comp.
