The WAAFL created a new by-law on the Friday morning before the game.

It is called the 'Embley & Kerr' Rule. Basically means that they can't register for another club.

If I wanted to change clubs 2 or more times before the June cutoff then it wouldn't be a problem but my name isn't Kerr of Embley.

Very short sighted view by the WAAFL and will now stop any future ex-afl or ex-wafl players who want to give back to the competition. They weren't being paid to play at any club, just wanted to give back to the community.

Huge amount of respect for Embley, took training on the Thursday night and even came down to the game on Saturday even with the weather conditions. The boys really enjoyed having him down and learning from a great AFL player, he did win a Norm Smith afterall.

Sorry Shiz - can't believe for a minute they are doing this out of the goodness of their hearts!
Clearly being remunerated in one form or another, the WAAFL have done the right thing.

I don't care whether you believe it or not. The FACT remains that they were never going to be paid for playing.

Were they going to be paid for anything?
For appearing at a "Sportsmen's Night"?
or doing some training/tuition?

Where does it say in the By-Laws that a club can't pay a person for a sportsman night?

What a coincidence, just happened to be playing "for the love of the club" or "playing with their mates" on the same day they are getting paid to appear at a Sportmen's Night.
Mate can't you see it would have been the thin edge of the wedge if the WAAFL hadn't jumped on it?
