This one seems to have gone under the radar but new club Cottesloe Roosters are in the Waafl . They will start in C4. They have the backing of Premier Colin Barnett . They will be the first new club in an old area for many years come into the Waafl. Must be some well established clubs around them not too happy about them coming in you would think.

You would think that other clubs would have liked the top up of players, rather than a completely new club. But hey, I guess it is good for the Suburb and Local Community.

Any word fo their jumper colours and style?

Heard a whisper they will be requesting to head down to E grade? Struggling for players already.

If you are going to launch a new club, wouldnt you make sure you had enough players on the radar at least?

Entering the WAAFL in C4 which is the old F grade isnt really attractive for any decent players to go and pull on the roosters jumper is it. Going to E Grade they would be looking to recruit players from teh WA Masters (Veterans League).

Note to future new clubs, have a coach on board who is bringing a strong nucleas of players with him and make it attractive for others or potentially the WAAFL to consider starting you in a higher grade.

Mac A, The waafl dont want new clubs, they put every barrier up.they give no support or advise to new clubs.Suits and ties sitting there collecting their fancy money.
Yes our club applied but got nothing but negative vibes from both waafl and our local development council.
Stuff the Waafl i reckon,we play sunday footy and love it,got a premiership flag to prove it.
personally i like saturday footy but with ground allocations etc...sunday is the way to go

Good Luck to the Roosters in their first year.

Nice breezy home ground down there overlooking Cottesloe Beach. Will be interesting how many players they might pick up from the established clubs around them in North Freo, Mossie Park, Collegians, University and West Coast Cowan.

hawk, the reference is directed to those at the waafl and also at our district level..suit and tie on good money they are supposed to promote this great game, but us volunteers that work fulltime and then go out and try to get a new club up and running are treated like numpties.these suits and ties have gotta in touch with the local blokes like me to grow the game...
and thats what the fuck im talking about,,,thanks for the question

Having a look at their Facebook and website page they seem very organised. They have over 300 members on their Facebook page. They have plenty of sponsorship and having been planning it for nearly a year . They are saying they are in C4 and have ex Hawthorn player Jarrod Morton playing.
