In the main game Wesley were far too strong all day and University never really looked like getting back into the game. The big bodies of Wesley dominated all the contests and Uni's normal running game was never really able to get going.

In the Reserves TA's got a wiff getting to within 7 points with three minutes to go but Beach steadied and put on the last two to seal the match.

Uni won quite comfortably in the Colts in a high standard game which suggests that both clubs will have some good kids coming through next year.

Just as an aside I compared Wesley's 2012 Budget side with the 2013 Budget listing. A remarkable 19 of the 30 players were not listed last year. Obviously a lot of players left the club but they picked up some handy replacements.

A Grade
Wesley Curtin 3.2 4.6 5.6 9.11 (65)
University 2.2 2.6 4.8 4.9 (33)

A Reserves
Trinity Aquinas 0.1 2.2 3.3 4.6 (30)
North Beach 1.4 3.5 4.12 6.13 (49)

Phil Scott Colts
Trinity Aquinas 0.1 0.2 2.3 3.4 (22)
University 1.4 4.6 4.8 6.8 (44)

Don't believe everything you read, Tugger. Real story is that 16 of yesterday's premiership team played with the club in 2012, another was a colt that pushed up into the league side and a couple more returned to the club after a couple of years having a crack at making it at WAFL level. Only three new players, one of whom was Andrew McCarrey who wandered down mid year to play with his brother and cousin in the same side. Would have thought three new recruits would be the norm for any side trying to replace their losses and be competitive. Been coached by Earl Spalding for the last 4 years. Terrific game between clearly the two best sides in A Grade this year - not a lot between them, but Wesley were just too strong on the day and set up their victory with a lead against the breeze in the first quarter. Tight struggle after that and less than a goal in it at 3/4 time but Wesley ran over the top with a strengthening breeze in the last to win their first A Grade flag.

Well done to WC, winning any flag is not easy...

It must be agreed though, winning B Grade then A grade a year later certainly takes some serious $$$..... Mt Lawley tried this a few years back but fell short.

To be blind to what happens at 6-7 of the A Grade clubs is silly. Good to see the club I was once part of doing it by the book and winning a final.

Was at the game and watched a tight tussle up until 3/4 time, at which point WC powered away by totally dominating the last qtr to run out comfortable 5goal winners

Great crowd there with both clubs parochial in their support of their respective teams in a highly entertaining game

Questions regarding WC paying players are laughable given their involvement in heavily donating to the Jane McGrath Foundation the last few years. The club prefers to see its money go to those in need, not mercenaries chasing a quick buck

yes and Mark Coughlan played out of the good of his heart, don't kid yourself peoples.
Everyone knows what goes on.

Well done to WC on winning the flag but lets not think they are the Saints of the WAAFL because everyone knows they are no different to the rest.

Greatwhiteshark you are a jackass! He is an old Wesley boy...and a super bloke to boot. Don't malign people on this forum by guessing shit and sniping in the background. Glad to see the reward he got for what he has given to our club over the past couple of seasons on and off the field.
15 of the 22 GF players played colts for our club. Your congratulations are declined until you get your facts right and show some degree of sincerity.
