John Dunn Games:
Should have read my own post before making my way down to John Dunn only to be reminded there was no colts game on. This made for an empty sort of feeling going into the start of the reserves game between Gosnells v Kingsway.
Gosnells V Kingsway:
As I mentioned it was a bit of mixed feeling around the ground when both teams went out to start the game, a good group of the Gossie faithful spread themselves around the ground while the Kingsway group were all together seeing as the league would follow on after.
Gossies got the jump on the roos in the first half, with again what was a pretty scrappy affair from both teams, Gosnells looked to want the ball more, and roos were going more for the player. Don't know what was said at half time in the Roos rooms but they came out firing, so much so that the guy running the scoreboard couldn't keep up and was adding points to the roos score rather than goals which gave the crowd some homework to do trying to figure out the score! The roos got within a kick ion the last quarter but with the last couple being kicked by Gossies they sealed the game up and move forward into next week against Ridge!
Kelmscott V Kingsway
A bit of a mixed feeling on the home advantage for the doggies, who were not given access to their rooms until after half time of the reserves game due to Gossies occupying them. but this wasn't a distraction from them as they jumped out of the blocks kicking the first for the game. The Roos lacked the finish and skill to go with the dogs all day, simple turnovers made it easy for the dogs to play their open running game. The dogs biggest threat was themselves in the first quarter, as a few of them deciding to fire a few shots at each either with one player even suggesting he would go home. At half time though the dogs left the Roos a sniff being quite inaccurate with the halftime score 6.9 45 to 3.2 20.
Third quarter saw a pretty even goal for goal affair and again the dogs just couldn't finish in front of the big sticks!
The last quarter continued in the same manner with the Roos not being able to string too many together without a retaliation from the dogs.
A few points to ponder on in the upcoming matches:
Will Kelmscott be able to field the same team next week having to travel up north to the Showgrounds or will lack of commitment from a few let them down and give Wanneroo an easy ride to the big day?
Can Kingsway bounce back and knock of a red hot Melville team at home and have another crack at wither the Dogs or Real Roos?
Mr Mysterious, I noticed a group of the Wanneroo boys and yourself having a sneek peak at the League game in prep for this weeks game, I would be interested to know your thoughts on the game. Also looking forward to your write up for this weeks games.
