So with round 17 completed the final 5 is not yet set with TA's still a slim chance to claim 5th spot from Jandakot. Jandakot win and get a likely home final, lose and it could be curtains. Not sure of the swing needed but I can't see The Jets losing to The Park at home so it probably means bugger all anyway.
Once again,as with most weeks this season, there was a surprise result with The River putting their home final in jeopardy by losing to lowly Roleystone.
A determined Brentwood brought The Jets back to earth at Karoonda and look to have sured up 2nd spot and a home ground advantage for the 1st week of finals. From my calculations they'd have to cop a decent defeat next week to The Harbour for those 2 teams to switch places.
TA's kept their faint finals hopes alive with a win over seller dwellers Wembley but would've liked the margin to be a bit bigger.
The who cares cup for this week went the way of The Parkers with a good win over a struggling Cobras outfit.

Twas a great day for The View up at Brown Park. Our colts kicked off the day with another 20 goal win and with Manning only having 15 players it allowed us to rest a few sore boys and also play a few through the Ressies and League and rest some from those respective sides.
The Ressies knew they had to make amends from the previous week and it was evident before the match that the boys were on their game. With their best side available they are the only team in the Ressies that can get anywhere near TA's IMO. Having 35 odd colts to pick from will also add some depth to them.
As with the Ressies, the league boys knew that we needed to rebound from last weeks loss. Again it was evident before the game that our attitude was much better. We dominated much of the contest but kept The Harbour in it with some simple skill errors going forward and some bad kicking for goal. The most important thing for us though was that our intensity and effort was up. At 3/4 time we were only up by a couple of goals but kicked 4:7 and 3 on the full to nothing.
Secret Harbour will never be a team that I like playing after the 1st time we played them and a few things from yesterday but credit where credit is due and they had 20 odd blokes hang around for a few drinks and stay for our pressos. That definitely won back some respect.

The Ressies between Brentwood and Jandakot was pretty even for the first half being goal for goal and wet weather footy bringing the skills right down. At half time the doggies were up by about 3 points, three quarter time Jets up by 3. The start of the 4th quarter Brentwood got 3 - 4 goals before the rain set in and made it easier to defend their lead.

I only saw a little of the league match due to bar commitments, and the Swamp Rats like a drink so I could only get out their for moments at a time. Brentwood got the upperhand in the first, kicking 6 goals to 3 and kept working increasing the margin as the day went on. At half time it was 39 points, three quarter time Brentwood lead by 61. The last quarter the Jets looked like they were going to close the gap a little, although their kicks inside 50 were constantly cut off and only had 1 goal 2 for their efforts in the final quarter. Bulldog, DB and Swampland will hopefully fill you in if I missed something.

Swampland was quick to pay his debt of the carton, and the Jandakot boys hung around to check out the night game with the thirds and help out the bar sales. Brentwood also had the past players day at the club and the boys from the 93 premiership team came back down for their 20 year reunion. All up it was a good day for the club.

Quick calcs suggest that TAs will have 2% better percentage than Jandakot at the moment. Means its a straight win/ lose situation for TAs and Jandakot.

Again with the number crunching, the magic number is about 50 points for Secrets have to win by to get a home final, not that the Doggies are going to plan on losing by any amount!

Sitting back today enjoying a cold one with my colts captain I look back and think back about how good Brentwood actually were. Professional, good attitudes and prepared.

I payed my debt nice and early when the doggies boys where sitting around enjoying there win. No EXSCUSES for our boys where outplayed all day right from the first bounce. Our skills where terrible
And ball usage just as bad. Brentwood looked like they had glue on there hands and hardly made a error.

Big week for he swamprats next week win and mabey a home final. Colts already made it so big week for the league and hopefully dispose of osbourne park. Few boys gutted about yesterday but all brothers down at the muddy waters of atwell so hopefully pull together and have a big week and get the swamp into there first waafl league finals :).

Hope you enjoyed the beers bulldog ;)

We knew that would be the case after the Cockburn result wiped away any chance of us holding a % lead over them. Weekend didn't help obviously; but if two weeks ago you gave us one of Sean View or Brentwood; we probably would have taken it. Therefore we are in exactly the position we probably thought we'd be in. Win scenario.

Roleystone may have something to say about it all yet as they have obviously played pretty well on the weekend. I think a few people would have thought that result was a chance.

Full credit to Brentwood yesterday - got us from the start. We were terrible - skills abysmal. Worse performance by far all year and the whole side was disappointed with our effort.

Boys showing up without their gumboots when the rain had been pouring down all week. Just terrible... Wasn't a day for footy boots.

Big week on the track and we just go back to basics.

DB.

ps. Good to catch up with old friends and share some $3 Pure Blondes. Good bunch of boys at Brentwood and go about it on and off-field the right way.

Ffs, again wrote my whole life story and it didn't post!!!!

Cheers for the beers roc, was greatly appreciated, and also to the jetters for hanging round for a beer. Must admit the doggies were up and about on the weekend, and looked like a bit of a training drill at some stages.... Thought that might strike a cord db:)

Massive game next week, and I mean MASSIVE!! Preview of first final at their dung heap! The boys from the kennel have beaten every team in the comp now and are looking to build on that!!!!

Spots are hard to come by, so everyone is on notice, from here on in, it is who ever wants it more! And I know many dogs would give their left nut, so I putty the fools who want to take it off us!!!!!
