interesting side note that Swan Ath, while they have been super competitive and probably should have won their share, are yet to get up over TA's in 4 home and away matches over the past 2 seasons. most of them within 2 goals. wonder if that will play any part comes finals time if Ath scrape in with their likely opponent being somewhat of a bogey side. Can Swan Ath win close ones against TA's? seems not but they'll be making up the numbers anyway
Sign up for the forum just to bring that up did you Big Bird?
While never supporting too much violence in footy, it is safe to suggest that an overload of arrogance and badgering from TA's sparked the events. Then a laughable response from their players who attemped chasing a swan ath player off the ground.
Well at least the Trinity Boys has their Daddys there to stick up for them, one not handling his chardonay or red wine too well, attempting to fight and yell classy lines at anyone and everyone from Swan Athletic.
with the game close all day, 6 or 7 of TA's 12 goals came from free kicks, even the big forward was laughing at the kicks he was getting. Maybe this burst open the frustration bubble for Athletic players?
MacAttack, were you at the game or on the field? I can only assume that like Big Bird you are only interested in 'stirring the pot'..... but hey lets never let the facts get in the way of good story (or a bit of the footy goss rumour mill).
For those playing at home, the facts were:
1) TA's certainly not arrogant, but happy to admit the banter was in play on the wkd, as it is in most football games.
2) Hodgey decided in his wisdom to simply king hit our vice captain all because he was told "your having a great game" or something similar
3) In reference to your laughable response from our players. One of blokes had just had his front teeth knocked out.... The fact that our players remained controlled, and the end result was no red cards to any of our players, speaks volumes about our players.
4) The fact that Hodge wanted to run of the ground straight after king hitting a bloke says more about him than it does about TA's
5) The dad of the players becoming upset.... well I think most parents would be upset if they saw their son hit 75metres of the play
6) Number of TA's free kicks that resulted in goals totalled 3 for the game. If unsure please feel free to get the subscription from Aurora as they filmed the game.
To set the record straight, TA's have a great amount of respect for Swan Athletic, and I can only assume it is shared mutually. The last 4 games between TA's and Swan Ath have resulted in a total margin of approximately 30pts, with the weekends 19pts being the largest of them. All that shows is that the teams are very evenly matched. As for the incident on the weekend, no one wants to see that in football. Not TA's, not Swan Ath and hopefully not the players involved. What is done is done, and hopefully justice was served at the tribunal on Wed night. We look forward to our next encounter..... this year or next.
As for you MacAttack, your posts throughout the year have been taken with a grain of salt, as it is quiet clear you do not represent the thoughts and views of the majority of the League side or coaching staff from Swan Ath.
Let me guess, you are happy you had a bite and got a nibble from me?
