A couple of big upsets this weekend. Kingsley had a big win over CWP whilst I'm sure no one expected Melville to win by so much. I would say that the Top5 is nearly finalised. Whilst the battle for relegation is now wide open as Kingsley keep winning.

I enjoyed a lovely trip down to Thornlie this weekend. I was disappointed to find the man who lived in the tree was no longer there. Anyone know what happens to him?
The colts was quite a fiery encounter. As a commentator would say "No love lost between these 2 teams" It was good hard footy for most of the day. Wanneroo got the lead in the last quarter after several lead changes through the game in a low scoring affair.
Wanneroo by 10 points

Since it was a cold morning I thought I'd go grab some hot chips a bit earlier. Not sure what to make of the hot chips down Thornlie way. Some chips were cooked well whilst some chips were a little undercooked. Perhaps something is wrong with your deep frier? I'd try to fix that Thornlie.

The reserves game was a little like the hot chip situation. Some players were on, but some players were off. To be perfectly "Francis" it was quite a boring game. Wanneroo did everything except kick goals. They thought if they kicked enough points they could still win. They didnt kicked enough points to win. but they managed it through goals.
Wanneroo by 80points.

I thought a trip to the bar was in order, it seems as though the legend of Mr Mysterious hasn't travelled down to Thornlie, as not one person offered to buy me a drink. Luckily for me after the reserves game they put on 6 free jugs of beer.

The league game was threatening to become a bore, much like the reserves game. Thornlie were never really in the game, except for the second qrt where they put up a bit of a fight but nothing to major. I'm not one to usually comment on the umpires and how they went ect... And this won't change. The players dealt with what they were given, but I do think the scoreline could have been greater if it was for a some ill disciplined acts from some of Wanneroos players.
Wanneroo won by 70 points.

Wanneroo is still undefeated and face quite a difficult match up against Onion Ridge next weekend. Should be a good day out at the Showgrounds next weekend.

Interesting game at thornlie.
I'm not one to complain about the umpires either as I used to umpire myself and know it can be difficult at times, however the blokes umpiring on the weekend were absolutely atrocious and should put their whistles away for life. Something needs to be done about these two blokes. It appears that these umpires are not sure what a handball is as there was at least half a dozen times we were called for a throw when it was a clear handball. At least half of these bemusing calls were made when the player with the ball was under no real tackling pressure from the opposition at all. There were also a number of other decisions which I will not go into detail about.
At the end of the day it was good to get the points but a weird feeling at the end of the game. Looking forward to ridge next week.

Morning all, what a big week its been in football.

Headed down to rams stadium Saturday with near perfect conditions for what shaped to be match of the rounds in both the ressies and the league game. The Kingsway faithful came out in numbers all dressed to impress (with there league coach sporting a fresh perm) with high expectations of taking the 8 points on offer for the day. How wrong they were.

Reserves got under way with a low scoring first qtr which saw Melville dominate but being very inaccurate in front of the big sticks, rams by a goal at qtr time. The second saw much of the same with the rams extending there lead to 2 goals. Half time saw the Melville boys blasted by a disgruntled coach (perhaps Carlton's poor performance the night before a contributing factor). This saw the rams come out in the 3rd an absolutely blast away a near on useless Kingsway side much to the delight of the Melville old boys now on there 2nd carton each. Much the same in the last with scoring slowing perhaps due to several big names being shifted down back. Overall a game played in good spirits with Melville to strong ending up running away with a 12 goal win.

What I learnt today is having your team rock up 2 hours early for a game an huddle in the centre circle doesn't make you a better team.

Now to the main game.

The league game shaped to be a beauty, Kingsway being the surprise packets so far this season sitting 2nd an the Melville boys down in 6th looking for a strong run home, would the home advantage be the difference, only time would tell.

The game got underway an within a blink of an eyelid Melville had kicked the first 3. They were up an about early. The first qtr saw a good clean display of footy with the rams up an about while the roos seemed flat. Rams by 2 goals

The second saw Melville maintain momentum extending there lead to 8 goals in a highly skilled affair.

More of the same in the 3rd with Melville's real competition coming from each other for goal of the day. First with number 17 side stepping 6 blokes before selling candy and finishing with a goal from deep in the pocket. This did not go unnoticed by Melville's number 2 who soon after was involved in the backline before pushing forward breezing by 3 blokes n finishing with a goal from the skate park. Number 17 for Kingsway was made to look real stupid in this qtr as if the cock on his chin wasn't enough already. Melville up by 12 goals.

By the last qtr the game was well an truly over with the two teams going goal for a goal, a highlight in the last was number 13 putting his nomination in for goal of the day with a snap deep in the pocket before letting the feral roos faithful know about it with the 1 finger salute. Melville running out winners by 80+ points.

It seems Kingsway are a front running time who will struggle on the big stage. This could see them slide down the ladder while Melville's performance should see them shape as a real premiership contender.

Few highlights for the day,
Seeing Melville's coach losing his shit at the umpires 15 goals up with 5 seconds remaining on the clock.
Also not sure if kingsways assistant coach started the day with hair ??? real possibility it was lost on the day.
Number 3 for Kingsway has a career awaiting in the circus after his overly enthusiastic display of zinc at the weekend.

Just checked tab's premiership odds ( Odds current as of 12 noon Monday 8th july 2013)

Wanneroo $1.87
Melville $2.38
Kelmscott $4.90 with a bonus $50 petrol voucher
Ocean Ridge $6.90
Gosnells $ 11
West Perth/Coolbinia $49
Kingsway $87
Kingsley $101
Lynwood/Ferndale - $1001
Thornlie - no longer taking bets

Welcome to OZfooty. Übermensch or can we call you man of steel?
Interesting premiership market. Not sure Melville should be at such short odds. However ill discuss with Tommy Waterhouse and Alan Eskander and see what they come up with.

Thanks for making me feel so welcome !! Call me what you like, I'll let my footy do the talking . Quite luxurious odds currently on the table for the rams !! Few big names returning should see them tighten further.

With the price of fuel these days I think I will have a flutter on Kelmscott.

Which player was the first goal scorer in your game?
