Some interesting results yet again in the C2 competition. Bassendean pushed at home by Swan Valley, Mosman Park with their second big scalp of the season beating Warnbro who, apart from beating an undermanned Canningvale side have lost 2 out of the last 3. The Royals got up for their first win of the season in fine style dispatching SNESA who seem to be struggling at the minute. Canning disposed of Manning as expected and Quinns ran out massive winners against Canningvale after the game was tight late in the second quarter.

Mixed day for the Cougars.

Colts;
Quinns 5.6.36 def by Canningvale 7.10.52
Our Colts back on track after 2-losses in a row. Close game for the first three quarters with both sides sharing the lead only for the Cougar Cubs to run away with it in the final stanza. We probably had a stronger side than most weeks with a few more of our 'League Playing Colts' doubling up due to a lack of numbers. Good game played in good spirits.

Reserves;
Quinns 27.26.188 def Canningvale 3.1.19
Tough day for our Ressies as we knew it would be. Quinns kicked 8.10 - 0.0 in the first quarter and it was one way traffic from there. Only one minor incident, a kermit from Quinns ditched the ball at a Canningvale player after a tackle on the last line of defence found him holding the ball - it ended up with a 50m penalty then he proceeded to abuse the umpire and rewarding himself with a yellow card. Further abuse landed our full-back in the goal-square with a free kick. Not very often a full-back kicks a goal when his team is down by 25-goals!!! We had about 6/7 Colts double up for this one as well. Ladies Day next weekend at home, we are hoping to get a few of our retired Reserves back on the track to put on a good show for the skirts.

League;
Quinns 20.20.140 def Canningvale 8.8.56
A tough day for us. Played with 21-players after a mistake with the team-sheet. Still have 5/6 guys to come back in to the team. Had 4/5 Colts double up as usual. A hammy to our full-forward in the second and a shoulder in the same five minute play effectively left us with 1-man on the bench for the rest of the game. Take nothing from Quinns though, they ran hard forward all day and punished us in the second half by 13-goals to 4-goals. They are a very good side! Rumours were flying around that Daniel Gilmore was supposed to play for them? Not sure he did. Good clean game of footy in the end with some impressive skills. Glad footy is back - still hard to watch though.
Loves kicking goals, passing them off is only an option.

Wasnt at the game but sounding like alot of excuses get chucked around after every round against Quinns. i think there proving to be the top team for the year and are going to be hard to stop. ive heard they haven't got there full team in and for all other teams like us hope they dont get full strength. going to be a good game next week top vs 2nd. we will have to wait to see if quinns can keep it up for the second halve of the year. and if the midfield players like x williams gilhome and there lil players and winger can be stopped..ill be at next week game for sure for it will definetly be GOTR

Yeah teams can keep making excuses but we're at the top for a reason and can hopefully maintain our spot there for the remainder of the season

After all that has been written about quinns i journeyed up the freeway to south geraldton on saturday and watched the quinns/cv game the first half was a good hard contest had quinns not been so wastful in front of goal it might have been a bigger lead, after half time quinns hit the ground running and kicked 4 goals the game was all but over. A good hard fair game of footy and a big well done to both sides who had no bench after half time lots of ice in sight. Also loves a goal found the 150 metre in the ressies highly amusing . A big up to quinns who had there ladies day on and some fine specimans were sighted.

100% agree, mate. Ladies Day is always a winner, we have ours this week against Manning. Good day apart from having to stop at Maccas twice on the way there and back for sustenance.

Colts
our colts put on a valiant effort in their game. having no bench again and lacking the midfield depth required for continued run they kept the contest close until halfway through the third when the rotations from SNESA meant they had fresh legs and our boys started to tire blowing the gap out a bit. again 6-7 of them played again in the twos and a couple in the league. the colts have shown they are willing to do everything they can to help our club and personally i think it's outstanding. this week will test our club with the colts playing at Swan View and the rest playing at Canning but hopefully the numbers hit the track and then back it up on the weekend.

Reserves
from what i saw of the reserves game i thought SNESA controlled the flow but where wasteful in front of goal. SNESA had 16 more scoring shots but only won by 16 points, our accuracy helped keep us in the game but our lack of speed around the ball and general fitness kept us from controlling portions of the game.

League
finally we have strung together a full four quarter performance and won a game. for the last few weeks we have played well in patches but lapses have really hurt us. on saturday we tried a few new things and they worked a treat, SNESA seemed to run with a small on ball brigade for most of the day and they struggled to contain our bigger bodied mids who had a field day. the battle of the Harris's ended in a draw on the scoreboard both kicking 4 but i think Dave had more impact on the game setting a few goals up as well as kicking his 4.

another game against familiar faces this week with a few of our players leaving to Canning after a few games this season. as a group we would love nothing more than to beat them just to prove a point.
