North Beach 12.15 (87)

Mt Lawley 10.12 (72)

Hawkeye must be on leave so thought I'd better get the results posted given our boys turned it on against TA's for their first win of the season. Interesting round with the first draw of the season out at Hamer and the boys from Harmony continuing their improved form with an excellent win against CBC. Top of the table battle saw Wesley take the points against the defending premiers.
Suddenly looks like there is a bit more drama to be played out this season than it appeared a couple of weeks ago!

Mate had a wedding so wasn't able to put the results in.

Your boys from all accounts held firm all day and the margin didn't blow out more than 12 points, so well done. Gee Maddo need to be swabbed based on their recent form. How does a side allow themselves to be beaten by 20 goals (WC) three weeks ago and then come back and beat Swan Ath (8 pts) lose to Beach (11 pts) and then beat CBC by 3 pts. My take for what it is worth is that there is very little difference between the bottom 7 sides and ANYTHING can happen from here on in. Collegians are by no means done and dusted for season 2013.

Saw the top of the table clash between Wesley and Uni on the weekend. Was a tight dour affair in the first half with Uni controlling general play through their clean skills and spot up targets but only heading into the main break with a slender 4 point lead

After halftime the game opened up a bit and both sides found scoring opportunities a little easier to come by. Uni kicked the first goal of the last quarter to keep things even and it looked as though their experience in big games may get them over the line. However, a late high bump on one of the Wesley players seemed to get them going and they were able to kick the last 3 or 4 goals of the game to win

Nonetheless, a hugely entertaining game with a reasonable sized crowd and you'd expect the return game at McGilvray to be a cracker

The team on the weekend I was told had 7 different players to the team that ran out against W/C.

Maddington's problem is going to be depth , when they run out with their best 22 I believe they are able to beat anyone.

4-5 injuries and real issues occur.

Interesting season.

The North Beach Vs Athletic game was a scrappy one. How have Beach got away with that round thing they call an oval for so long? Is is too hard to mark the lines like a normal shape of an oval? Every year we see this joke of a shape and nothing is done.

As for the game. My boys from wine country started well but missed some goals. Beach then kicked away a bit and looked too goo. Rest of the game was even which was well done as I saw 3 Swan Athletic players come off and not go back on with injuries.

The umpiring has hit new lows. One of our best players was yellow carded in the first quarter after a cheap shot punch from behind by one of the little fat blokes for Beach. Not sure why but he got sent off too. I was watching with about 10 other people who all were baffled? How does a player get yellow carded for being hit from behind? It was evident that the umpires are certainly on the NB bandwagon and enjoy helping them in every way possible. Was worth about 4 goals on the day. If I was the coach I would have walked off.

I might not be able to make next week but will be crossing my fingers for a much needed win against fellow strugglers Collegians.

Macattack. For one I am not involved in any A grade club so I'll speak. 2 players got sent off, so both obviously deserved it. I'd say the umpires aren't on the NB bandwagon if this happend, stop complaining. Because I saw footage from the weekend of a player from Swan Ath who deliverd a big hit in the reserves game but no card. A melee and no cards, so I think ATH should count themselves lucky

All incidents should be judged on their merrits. The hit in the reserves was a good fair hit. Melee occurred as NB stuck up for their team mate which was fiar in any circumstances.

The league send off should have been a report for striking to the North Beach player and a free kick to Swan Ath clearly viewed by me and all spectators watching - even NB spectators were saying this metres from where I was standing.

The umpire clearly made it up on the spot.

Mr. Mysterious, where did you see this footage? Did someone record and broadcast the game?
