This has to be one of the most ridiculous things to happen to ammo footy.
Nothing more than enjoying a nice cold beer after a hard slog game.

I would be interested to know what are some clubs thoughts on this new policy and were the clubs consulted on this prior to it coming out.

Just reading over the new circular on the PFL website about this alcohol policy I would have thought the main concern for clubs would be having to foot the bill for the free drink tokens for all home games.

This free drink token system could be quite costly for some clubs and it just adds another expense for the club to bear.

I couldn’t imagine the token system being approved by clubs if it went to a vote.

I don’t have too much of an issue with the other restrictions, But it was always great to have a beer in the changerooms after a game.

im old and grey,,,but back in my playing times we would come off the ground and have a beer with the team, chatn about all things that happened,,lots of swear words, who belted who ,and who hated that umpire..it was 30 minutes of calming down i reckon then have a shower and move on.. does the PFL own the clubrooms? or does the shire? or does the club?

agree that beers in the change rooms are always fun. Surely liquor and gaming have better things to do that take away liquor licenses for this?

More importantly what about no skimpies? This ruins Thursday nights at the club. If its because of women's football then get a male and female toppy serving the piss.

And how do they rule no sale of alcohol before 1.30, when sporting clubs have a license that says they can sell beer from 11.00 on a Saturday.

Let alone no happy hour.

F#@k Me. This is political correctness gone mad. who is this person that is taking the fun out of local footy with their mates.

I notice in the AFL recently sides like Hawthorn have gone back to having a beer in the change rooms after the game?????? I bet there is no liquor license at the MCG that says they can do it.

The irony, I clicked on the link and got an online ad for Thirsty Camel.

Fair questions about the liquor license v the PFL edict, particularly sporting clubs where the footy club doesn't solely run the bar, and what if your changerooms are indeed within your licensed area?

Good luck policing it. Lock the change room doors under the guise of OHS (given blokes will be having showers etc) and all will be sweet.

In the current hysteria around the world this may be flying under the radar, but my goodness has this little policy put people out of joint. Now as MrM puts his feet up, relax on game day you can learn a thing or two.

As far as MrM was aware you weren’t allowed to drink in changing rooms regardless of what some clubs enforced if this is the new policy well done to Perth Football League for making a stand.
How hard is it to get shower, get changed, walk 20-30m(maximum) and enjoy a drink in the clubrooms, with either your fellow supporters or opposing players and supporters? Not very MrM suggests.

Oh the bar doesn’t open till 1pm? Move on another non-issue.

As for giving out vouchers to opposition teams so they can come in an enjoy a beverage in the clubrooms, MrM knows Wanneroo has been doing this for years and it usually is a good way to chat to opposition. As for cost, MrM is unsure if this is still the case, but CUB provide Perth Football League clubs with “FREE” cartons each year so put them to good use and quit the hysteria and just enjoy the footy.
MrM rant over.
Thanks for reading.

just have to put up with the odd audit and try stop the lads from spilling too blatantly out into the grassed areas , and don't get caught obviously
On the League's side I think they have to show some understanding on Grand Finals day though

It’s absolute bullshit and no my respective club was not notified or consulted about this rule prior to it being made,
I don’t think any clubs were. This is embarrassing to the league. Not sure they understand what playing 100 minutes of footy to sometimes just
Getting over the line to having a field day out and enjoying that cold beer with the boys you’ve just gone to battle with..
