the truth is freez was that all clubs were offered the seats deal but only Subi could make it work having the social premises at the back of the three tiered stand. WCE and Freo use the Subi Oval function rooms for their game day packages whilst Subi likewise use the old social premises. For other WAFL clubs it would have been problematic as they would have had bus people to the ground from pregame lunches etc and wouldn't have had the ability to have half time drinks and so on....so competing in the market against WCE, Freo and Subi would have been very difficult.

Whats the future of those social premises?

I don't really know....Subi doesn't own the land so I guess they'll get knocked down in the redevelopment.

They will get demolished along with the stands, I think that's starts sometime in October after the international rules game.

What people choose to ignore is that the seats Subi have had at Subi oval are our club members seats. When we got turfed out of our crappy little red brick change rooms and open air seats in front when the big stands were built we had to provide seats for our members as is the case at all clubs, we then, after 70 years in the comp, were granted our own liquer license and the new social rooms were built by the club on leasehold land out behind the 3 tier stand, not ideal but we all thought it was amazing after not having any facilities for members and supporters. No wonder so few bothered to become Subi members or supporters back in the day. I remember sitting in the Subi members area for the 85 & 86 GF's before the WCE existed so those seats were never gifted to the SFC they have always been ours and since the WCE we have had to pay for the use of those seats outside of WAFL fixtures. When the SFC moved to Subi oval at the beginning of last century we had no idea that the WANFL would choose to establish its base there, had nothing to do with Subi, it was foisted upon us and the WANFL had their admin and members stand on the northern wing and the only liquer license at the ground for over half a century. Absolutely we have benefitted form this very lucky opportunity by being the first and only team based at Subi oval while everything else fortuitously happened around us, like the various redevelopments and the start of the expanded VFL. That's all finished as of the end of October so hopefully it will also be the end of the ill informed comment about gifts to the SFC. Other clubs are being fully or partly gifted new club and admin buildings ie WP, Cl & Peel, Perth will soon get new facilities, Swans via the basso Council have plans in place, Souths and EF will eventually co -tenant at a redeveloped Freo oval and lets not forget that EP paid zippo for the refurbished WP facilities when they were turfed out of Lotons.

SS: We have been very lucky over the last thirty years or so; a bit of good karma given what the old WAFL did to us in the past. The other clubs, thankfully, craked down on the WAFL, in the late 1970s, and insisted we have a licence and and sinnage rights around the ground. The other thing I would add is that, because of the uncertainty surrounding the Eagles and the future of the ground should they be formed, I have said it before, had I been running Subiaco, I would have voted 'no' in 1986.

The truth of the matter is Peel are the only side in the top 5 that stand in the way of Subi coasting to another flag , how many games have you won in a row this year 19 isn't it.

Couldn't agree more, not one bit of sympathy from me for $ubi. I reckon it is absolute gold that they are not maxing out on Flags (hopefully lose again this year) whilst they are rotting the system:P :P :P

Yeah hear ya Leedy ,Subi should be thanking Peel for taking the heat off them you can bet you're bottom dollar the whinging would be all about Subi.

Ark, the subi clubrooms were up and running with a license in the early 70's, I remember getting totally trollied after the '73 flag in the newish social hall.

Gotta love it when a Joondy supporter accuses another club of rorting the system ...... so is it 2 times your club has been done for cap breaches so far?

What I would like to do is ask one of the "Peel" supporters what they will do when they win the flag. Will you go out and celebrate and make statements such as WE won, or PEEL are # 1 etc? Lucky for you if you have the gall to do that. If it was East Freo in this situation, I know that my ethics would make me feel embarrassed and I certainly would be keeping my mouth shut. But that's me!!
WAFL ends this weekend, roll on cricket season.

Who cares , take out Peel and you will still have a nine team comp that's been dominated by two teams, ffs SF took out Swans by 14 goals in a final, what a great advertisement for WAFL footy , no wonder people stay away.
