What a great game of WAFL Footy today was. Thought East Freo were really brave and played quite well. Pleasing to see the development of Peels local lads like Thorne (32D, 1G) Ryan Bennell (3 goals) and Jack Sears (7 Marks) and the debut of big Riley Smith who showed some real signs. Congrats also on young HBL Premiership player Ty Anderson on his league debut and a nice goal.

Freo cohort were strong as expected however watching live outside of Blakely, Meek and Worner who were a cut above, I thought it was a pretty even spread.

Mate, gotta feel a bit sorry for Peel supporters.  Through no fault of yours, you cop a lot of crap from us traditional WAFL supporters.  It’s fairly obvious why we hate your team so much, but I don’t think the criticism is directed at your supporters.  Hopefully your team can start winning a few games without your AFL inclusions that are seen as an unfair advantage.  Till then, hope you keep up having a bit of input here.

How is Sam Sturt going? He's a super talented footballer who was in under age national cricket teams. Had a bad run of injuries. He's hurt us a few times.
Get on your bike.
It was Adam and Eve not Adam and Steve.

Thanks 58Shark,
One thing I don't think ever gets spoken about is the reality of the challenges Peel face, both as an aligned club and not...

Everybody just expects Peel should win games without their Fremantle players, and that simple as that. Everybody goes quiet when we discuss...

-Recruitment restrictions placed on Peel
-Reduced Points Cap (Actually have less points then WCER when you factor in the need to allocate 23 points for reserves players which WCER don't have to do)
-Last regionally based state league club in existence (North Ballarat gone, Bendigo gone, All SANFL clubs are based close to Adelaide, Geelong Cats are fully owned and operated by the AFL Club)
-Only WAFL club with a community competition in its doorstep who can (legally) pay players.

Peel have a lot of potential to be a serious footy club in the WAFL, I think they're doing alot right. I would say it's frustrating being a supporter as 3 finals campaigns and 2 Premierships in 26 years is apparently "ruining the comp" but everytime we even win a game it's only the dockers players who get any attention. It's interesting aswell that everybody says "they're professional footballers, they should be fitter". If you look closely the majority of Dockers who actually play for Peel regularly are usually teenagers. Just this weekend I think there was Amiss (19) Treacy (19) Wormer (19) Western (19) Henry (19) and Benning (19) they're not exactly seasoned AFL bodies.

Think more credit needs to go to the joint when they have a win.

Well done to Peel (and the Train). My early post suggested they'd struggle but they were competitive in the Reserves and, with a healthy Fremantle, look strong in the League.

Train, Peel’s 2 farcical premierships are just one of many things that are killing the WAFL.  I have followed my team since the mid 1950’s and it was a great comp with every team having their ups and downs.  At the start of every year, each of us looked forward to watching your team making the GF.  The WAFL even survived the Eagles inception and also when Freo started.  All that finished when the Eagles gifted east Perth with 3 farcical premierships.  Then there was the Subiaco seats deal that gave them so much money they could spend whatever whenever.  So now we have 1 A grade team, 2 B grade teams 1 C grade team and the rest are D grade teams….every year.  The exception is the 2 AFL teams, depending on the health of their lists.  Perth haven’t won a flag since 1977, so where is the help to equalise the competition?  The WAFC sat on their fat arses picking up their attractive payslips in the good times and now as the comp is deteriorating and we need an active, strong commission, what are they doing?  Sitting on their fat arses with their bigger payslip while Rome burns.
So I’m not blaming Peel solely, they’re just a cog in the continued WAFC inadequacies.
