Watched some of the 84 vfl 2nd semi hawks v bombers on fox earlier today, far out what a different game it was back then. Michael Byrne blood pissing from his nose all over his face jumps for the centre bounce meanwhile Merrett just cannons into him leading with his knees not even going for the ball play on haha blokes dishing out hard sling tackles all over the place, they were better players back then I think, they had to seriously worry about getting taken out as well as playing footy...

DG, I have enjoyed a few of those classics over Summer, and I agree it was brutal compared to now with no hesitation to take the man out if he was playing well. I agree the game has changed a lot in 30 odd years
