I am dismayed how this bloke doesn't get the recognition he thoroughly deserves here in Australia. This young Melbourne man is one of the very best snooker players in the world and at a time when the quality of snooker and the depth has probably never been better and in an era when the greatest player of all time Ronnie O'Sullivan has been in his prime.

I'm just half way through watching recordings of Neil Robertson winning the Champion of Champions tournament and he had to beat the very best to do it knocking off former World Champion Sean Murphy, best player of all time Rocket Ronnie O'Sullivan and current world No 1 Judd Trump in the final.

No disrespect to Eddie Charlton and even past greats in those eras like Ray Reardon and Steve Davis but these guys today have taken snooker to another level. They are amazing to watch.

Neil has been World Champion, world No 1 in 2010, 13 and 14. He is currently world No 4 and he is consistently among the top 4 or 5. He has just won Champion of Champions for the second time. Yet he doesn't rate a mention anywhere in the media here. The game of snooker should be booming with snooker halls everywhere on the back of this blokes success.

Shame on you the Australian media for failing to recognise a great Australian sporting champion in an absolutely fantastic sport.

He consistently racks up the most century breaks in a season and holds the record for being the only player in history for making a century of century breaks in a calender year making an incredible 103 century breaks.

DD I dont mind a game of snooker and most of the nights I go down to Pot Black or other the tables are usually full, but yes take your point on the lack of/piss poor media coverage which is also not surprising!

Where is your local pot black BH? A replay of the final between Robertson and Trump is on now on Fox channel 505.

Since PB Hillarys closed down the closest one to me now is PB North Perth (Rosemount) DD which is a good snooker hall the State Champs are held there, all of the PB's are well maintained tables usually.
When I lived South used to play a fair bit at PB Cannington but now just tend to stay local at a pool/snooker hall in Joondalup as both myself and my mate who I play against regularly live in the area.

That was my favourite snooker/pool hall BH, Pot Black Hillarys. A great shame that closed. Did you ever play the knockout pool comps there on a Monday night from memory? I won that a couple of times. It was a really great night. $10 entry, usually had around 20 entrants. They provided finger food (spring rolls and samosas usually) . Good social night and some good players there. I had a couple of internet kiosks in there and spent far too much time fixing them, lol. Probably increase in rent is what killed it.

I also played mainly snooker at PB Rosemount the early/mid 90’s. They used to run a league there with teams of two. I was a foundation member of The Cue Club in the mid 80’s in William st Perth, 1st floor of the old Walshes building. Fantastic location and great snooker hall sadly didn’t last that long though. Again I suspect rent was the killer as it takes a lot floor space.

As a young student in the early 70’s I used to frequent the snooker hall across the road from one of the nightclubs on Murray Street, good value. For atmosphere the one down the stairs in I think was Piccadilly Arcade was worth going to and watch some fantastic players. Had more billiard players there. Trying to remember if Rosemount bowling had billiard tables as well.

Yeah PB Hillarys was a ripper DD and had a great view and location as well but unfortunately closed down probably due to exorbitant rent as you say as it is expensive real estate at Hillarys Boat Harbour/Sorrento Quay, you only have to buy a beer at the Breakwater to realise how expensive the rents must be!!!
