I’m not overly surprised by the decision. Selling river front Crown land for a private commercial development was always going to be a sticking point. You’d think this would have been the first issue the developers tackled.

Always seemed too big for that spot given the numerous sporting bodies associate with Tompkins Park and had smelt of a rort from the beginning for mine.

Hopefully they find a more suitable site

Forget the Wave Park RD, the big event is happening at Rushton park this afternoon. Peel (Freo reserves lol) v the Demons starting 4.30pm. Hope you are going and going to give us a rundown mate. Of course I'm interested in both sides.
Get on your bike.

I didn’t agree with the blokes opinion that it needed to be in a suburban area or it wouldn’t get enough customers. Perth surfers will regularly wake up an hour before dawn to drive to Mandurah or Lancelin or even Margaret River if the conditions are right.
If the wave produced is quality, even half as good as Kelly Slaters wave ranch, then I reckon surfers won’t think twice about driving to an industrial area somewhere

I was glad to hear this,

Although a wave park is a good idea, that location was absolutely ridiculous. Would of ruined the entire area.

Wrecked the sports grounds, and bowling club, ruined a nature reserve near by and bike paths, created traffic chaos on Canning Highway and been a bogan magnet for nearby residents to deal with.

I live in Attadale about half a km away from where this was propsed. I am largly ambivalent about the whole thing to be honest.

I personally could never see me use it, but i thought it was a great idea, but i know a lot or people were against it, so i guess its a winner for them.

Yeah, not a bad idea just bad location, sounded like a dodgy land grab of rare riverside land to me,
