For me Naomi Osaka winning the US Open against probably the best female tennis player of all time Serena Williams. And the drama that unfolded during that match was unprecedented. For that young lady to hold her nerve and knock off her idol was one of the best moments in women's tennis I've ever seen. I hope she does it again in the Aussie Open.

I think West Coast's win in the 2018 grand final was a remarkable achievement given they lost 3 of their star players along the way. Remarkable effort.

Perth winning I think 3 or 4 on the trot and spending a few weeks in the top 5. Quite a remarkable achievement for my WAFL club. Lol

Lowest sporting moment obviously Sandpaper Gate. Australian cricket paying the price right before our eyes this summer.

Best local was the ending of the alignment, best overall is Naomi Osaka winning with the worst being the focus on Williams losing rather than the plaudits going to the winner.

Worst sportsmen Warner, Smith and Bancroft, best sportsman Figjam for his graciousness after the GF!

Not really a sporting moment but a wonderful moment from a sportsman. Taken from the Guardian newspaper

Rafael Nadal was at his training centre in Mallorca when freakishly heavy rainfall floods hit the nearby town of Sant Llorenç des Cardassar in October, killing 13 people. “It was terrible,” he said. “Scary, and very sad. I really lived that tragedy from very close.” Given his proximity to the floods, and connection with the town – much of his mother’s family are from Sant Llorenç – a response was inevitable. But Nadal’s was above expectations as he headed to Sant Llorenç himself to assist with the clear-up operation, opening the doors of his training centre as a shelter, and donating £900,000 to victims of the flooding. Mateu Puigròs, the town’s mayor, described the donation as “help from a special person for all of us, who shows his love for our land and his neighbours every day because he is one of us”.

Ok, so regarding the best -

- Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic taking out the 4 tennis Grand Slams between them was pretty impressive considering the age of all 3.
- Kurt Fearnley winning gold at the Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast in the Mens marathon (T54) was great to watch.
- Of course who can forget Subiaco taking off the 2018 WAFL flag, a premiership that was won through determination, resilience and fortitude. No forgetting that they dug deep and won both the reserves and colts also.

So the worst -

- Smith, Warner and Bancroft and I don't put them in any particular order. Although after the last week or so and some interviews I now may have more time for the one who was perhaps the worst offender originally.
