Have a look at this, a bit of nostalgia and some great players featured. A great sight to see the ovals all full. Certainly sent a tingle down my spine

Good stuff. Enjoyed it.. Its when men were men and boys were boys :)
Its when passion and endeavor were a part of the WAFL..Sadly with recent events they are becoming a thing of the past. :(

In my opinion 1981 was close to the pinnacle of WAFL football (even tho SD didnt win the flag that year) as the calibre of players in the competition that year was the some of the best in Australia for example across the teams were-

Yeah what a ripper! Never see the Wafl promoted like that nowadays. Most of the media seem to avoid the WA footy league which is most dissapointing, including mentioned tv broadcaster!

Remarkably all the players going for their marks didn't need to put their hands in the back of the opposition players as they knew if they did it would be a free kick to their opposition player.

Great to waltz down memory lane and see the players of yesteryear and the crowds at the WAFL back then.

Fantastic players - a great time for wa footy. Though 81 was pretty wretched, now 79 the 150th anniversary of European settlement in W.A. was a hard act to follow. Freo derby G.F with 50000 plus crowd, record crowds and scores throughout the season and W.A winning the interstate championship in perth.

Yep, fantastic day joan. 52000 plus I think it was. I was on night shift that day, but hey, who would sleep when such an event was on - I just HAD to be there. Memories change, but I reckon the atmosphere that day was unlike anything I have ever experienced.
