Well someone was always going to be the loser to Subi,...did it really matter - I guess WAFC funding got them to the GF in a direct way, in an indirect way longer term payments to players were clearly getting priority over just about every other bill in the entire joint.

Your logic doesn't make a whole lot of sense when on one hand you're saying it's Subi wealth that gives them an advantage and to cut WAFC funding but on the other it doesn't quite work that way when a club in administration finishes second...does money in the bank give you a leg up or not? if it does then why have a cashed up Perth been so deplorable for such a long time and a broke WP finish second ahead of well funded and well managed SF and Cl?

Everybody knows the reason why Subi are successful, their blokes play for the love of the club and not the money they could get at other clubs.
It’s certainly the reason supporters have to accept as the WAFC have no interest in investigating why so obviously they don’t care.
I also think Subi need better zones, they seem to be struggling onfield over the last 14 years or so

Well not really, WP must of poured a lot of resources into the Football Department at the expense of everything else, so basically they were spending more than the average club on Football.
In any case they might of ended up in the Grand Final but were they really the second best team in the comp all year? History will show they made it to the GF but that's not always the full story is it.
Perth are an enigma , its hard to pin point what is going on there, we always hear they are well off financially but you could of fooled me looking at the way they run things. Bottom line is, they just cover their costs.

In any case the gap between Subi and even the next best off club is so enormous , it puts paid to any theory finance plays no part.

Now if Subi had achieved all this with their finances in the same place they were in 1981, I would agree entirely with you.

True, but as far as we know SFC are not breaking any rules ( officially ) they play within the rules, and its the rules that are the problem , they make assumptions, they assume all the WAFL clubs have the same access to the same resources are playing on an even playing field.

no mate...don't get me wrong...I'm not saying it plays no part but I don't think it is the only criterion. There's a lot on here who are very quick to point the finger and say the ONLY reason Subi has been so successful in recent times is $ under the table...our very good friend Leedy and his bogan mates are a case in point. Whilst I can't categorically say it's not happening in some way, shape or form, I do think there's more to it than just money. Subi has become a destination club over the last 15 years or so and I think a large part of that is club culture, buy in from all players and a strong football department and effective administration. Case in point, I have it on good authority WP and Perth offered Zac Clarke and Josh Deluca more than Subi were prepared to pay but both chose to head our way anyway. Why is that I wonder? I think it's because they saw Subi as being the best opportunity to get a crack at another AFL contract and it provided a level of professionalism in a semi- professional environment....some get it like Mike if you read his post after the GF on the Subi thread and Grump as well. To me there's quite a few posters on here that lack the intellectual rigour to think outside pure $ for Subi's success and to look for other reasons as it's easier just to jump on the old brown paper/white goods bandwagon.
