From 1st appearances it looks as though this could be a very close season, Keller just beat Railways (with Leon) Beverley just beat Cunderdin, Federals and York both beat Quairading.
Lots of losses and gains throughout the league, most notably Beverley with 8 of last year's premiership 22 not playing. Keller seem to have lost a couple most notably Kittyea.
I watched Cundy v the Redbacks, it was a game that was affected by the wind blowing right to left as you watch from the club rooms side. The ball floated off the boot all day. I think 23 goals were kicked with the wind, and just 7 against. Both teams played good footy and both defences struggled to stem the flow when playing against the wind. Great round this week the potential 6 vying for the top four. Grand final replay included

Beverley beat an under strength keller/tammin by 12 goals, K/T missing James Venturini, one of the Bennells and Maguire pulled something when he had to chase the Redbacks fullback down the wing in the second quarter. Beverley also missing two important players, Podge Wansborough and Will Schorer. Pretty one sided game from the get go. Umpiring was appalling and probably contributed to the 2 red and 2 yellow cards that were shown. Card score was in favour of K/T, they got 2 reds and a yellow and Bev just the one yellow. It was a game that if you watched without knowing the score you may have thought that K/T were well in, because they controlled the ball very well when they had it in defence pinpointing passes to free men, but when it came to trying to win hard ball they were no where to be seen. There star player Innes gathers many possessions in a Ben Cousins type role, running round the back of the play and picking up easy handpasses, so his impact was limited. If you compare that to some of the hard ball getters from Beverley, Turner, Mann, McLean, Kean, Tomlinson and Scott Minno who hit the ball and the man hard and when it came to competitive man on man footy redbacks were all over them and the scoreboard showed same. But thinking back to this time last year KT flogged Bev and yet Bev took the flag, so its a long season and many things change between now and Sept

Todays games in the avon saw York v Keller, Federals v Beverley and Quairading v Cundy. No result heard as yet for York/Kellerhowever I heard that the big Q beat Cunderdin in what would be considered an upset at this stage of the season. Federals also caused an upsey by beating Bev by 8pts. I watched this game and it wasnt without interest, The first quarter was close but federals bust the game open in the second and held on to win despite being utscored in the 2nd half. Before half time bev were down to 19 due to injuries to key players Turner and Wilson plus having a reserves player doubling up on the bench in the 1sts

Keller beat York in a low scoring tight one. Its turning into an intriguing start to the season. Keller beat Railways, Railways flogged Feddies, Bev flogged Keller, Feddies beat Beverley and the Bulls beat the Maggies, what next, Feddies to beat York, Railsways over Cundy and Kell to beat Q, but who can tell the way its started.
One thing is for certain Bev need the bye to repair some of their key men
