Here we go again. Another tax payer funded study commissioned by politicians and local councils aimed at allowing local councils to fine motorists who exceed a new ridiculous speed limit proposed of 30km per hour. This is absolutely pathetic and yet another example of minority groups that think they can be BIG BROTHER and make life more difficult for motorists.

These peanuts do not live in the real world and I would suggest have NEVER done a job where they have multiple tasks to complete every day that requires driving to multiple places. I'm sure I speak on behalf of everyone here when I say that most people already use their COMMONSENSE when it comes driving around tight suburban streets where technically the speed limit is 50km per hour but we drive considerably slower than that because WE HAVE GOT A BRAIN.

But to force motorists to NOT USE THEIR BRAIN and drive at a moronic 30km per hour would just add to the stress of driving in todays already stressful world. We already got to put up with morons that dawdle along holding up traffic, we don't need these little BIG BROTHER groups making it fucking worse.

What we will see if this gets through is local councils getting speed cameras in suburban streets and it will simply be another revenue raising tax on motorists.

For a start I thought it was dropping to 40Kmh. Fo my mind 50Km is too slow, 30Kmh is absolutely ridiculous, soon we will be back to requiring a walking person with red flag at the front of our cars , the other thing is the demarcation between 60kmh and 50kmh makes no real sense, there are main arteries that are down to 50kmh like Preston Point Road that clearly should be 60kmh. Anything under 60kmh should be strictly limited to back streets.

Anyway , you do know the funds from traffic infringements go to consolidated revenue and not local government, don't you?

Something was said a couple of years ago when this ridiculous notion of 30km an hour was first suggested. The cops will quite rightly say they have more important work to do than setting up speed traps in suburban streets. Councils will push for legislation that allows them to set up speed cameras and collect the revenue for themselves. I've got a memory like an elephant when it comes to this sort of shit.

Already local councils have electronic signs that detect your speed and tell you to slow down. Mark my words it will be councils that will enforce this and collect the revenue if we allow this shit to get through.

Politicians treat us like lab rats, they employ psychologists who study human behaviour and apply strategies to slowly drip feed new ideas, they don't try to change it overnight because they know the outrage and objection will be fierce. They do it by stealth. Notice in the article Michelle Roberts said government will support lower speed limits if people want it. It's all part of the strategy, they make out as though this is some independent study nothing to do with government. BULLSHIT!

If the councils can install surveillance cameras around town (at shopping centres, in the centre of town, overlooking footpaths etc) they could easily purchase and install their own road spy cameras. It wouldn't be difficult.
If the speed is lowered to 30 km/hr a hour, you'll be driving around in third gear all the time. Be too slow for overdrive.
