What a disgusting and shameful episode happened in the Australia v Phiilipines basketball match last night. Everybody who contributed to escalating this street brawl in a so called professional game should be banned for a long time.

A mate of mine that's married to a Phillpino girl (hence he spends a bit of time over there) said that this would hardly wrinkle an eyebrow over there in certain areas. However, I'd like to know what was going on and were the Aussies provoked into taking these actions? Someone gives you an elbow to the midriff in footy, no one says "stop it" than walks away. Not saying it was right, but would love to know the circumstances.

One of the Aussie players could be in a spot of bother according to reports. Certainly unacceptable behaviour from a team representing the country.

Daniel Kickert didnt take too kindly to Chris Goulding being short arm jolted to the deck in the key and straight armed the Filippino player to the deck before the Philippines bench piled on to the court to turn it into a all in donnybrook. The Australian coaches quite rightly stopped our bench from jumping in as well as it would have been a full team ejection. Unfortunately some of the Aussie boys (Kickert, Goulding, Maker & Nathan Sobey) were king hit, chairs thrown at and or held down by the Philippines players, officials and some crowd members. After the mayhem had all died down the referees had a look at the tape and ejected 9 Philippines players and 4 Aussie boys leaving the farcical situation of Australia with 5 on the court against 3 from the Pinos. The 3 remaining Filipinos deliberately fouled out to forfeit the game to Australia by 36 points. A sad day for International Basketball it must be said.
