Very sad story coming out this afternoon that Bomber Thompson has been charged with drug possession and trafficking. A premiership player for Essendon and coach for Geelong, Bomber seems to have gone off the rails in a very bad way in the last few years. He may be heading for a stint in Gaol if found guilty. Pretty awful situation for a past champion of the game to be in.

The full-blown narcotic culture & confirmed organised crime association of that piss poor excuse for a competition are the reasons I ceased all interest in it coming up to 20 years ago , it's an abnormal highly noxious web of corruption that will ruin the very game itself which, I might add , is pretty much run by gambling & dodgy sponsorships these days judging by the sheer saturation amount of advertising in this day.
This individual is just another in the long ever growing line of by-products of that poisonous system

He should of made enough in his time in footy as a player ,coach+administrative roles.Enough to buy and sell the average bloke a few times over.Look's like the Police have been watching him for a while.

Sad to see I enjoyed his laid back approach since taking over the reigns when Hird stepped down and his appearances on AFL 360. Some are saying the Essendon drugs saga really affected him. Why? I seem to recall him saying around the time he didn't agree with what was going on at the time and advised Hird and co at the time. Can anyone remember why he copped a 30k fine from the AFL fine at the time?

Despite the fallout at Essendon he seemed to have plenty of opportunities available to him such as a senior coaching role if he wanted it but he would always say it would need to be a club with the right people around. Seems he's chosen some very dodgy people to associate with away from football. If he's guilty of these charges he is facing a decent stretch in the can. If that is the case his fall from grace will pretty much match that of his former team mate.

They rumours are he was well and truly off the rails way way before the Essington drug saga
