Ch 9 long association with cricket is over, and 10 have lost BBL.

7 and Foxtel have secured the rights for 5 years.

This means 7 will have to two biggest sports in Australia.

BBL will move back to Foxtel,

I wonder who the commentators will be?
I know Fox Sports use Brendon Julian, Allan Border, Mark Waugh, Greg Blewett etc for commentary on overseas tours.
End of an era if that is the last we have heard from Bill Lawry (only MCG these days) & Ian Chappell who have been calling the cricket on 9 for 40 years plus nearly 20 years of Mark Taylor & Ian Healy.
Hopefully it is the last we will see or hear of Michael Slater & Kevin Pieterson on the box!

Hopefully most of the 9 team get the arse, maybe Lawry might stay.

The more interesting this this is how they will divvie up the FTA and Foxtel,

BBL is pretty much ideal for the Foxtel format and it started there, so Id say they will keep the lionshare of that , the rumoured plan is that normal games will be foxtel but finals will be jointly broadcast on 7 and foxtel.

test will stay on FTA and probably ODIs.

Theres some issues about overlap with the AFL and that womens crap, but Foxtel have enough platforms to broadcast it all.

The down side in all this is that Basil Zempilas will now be on the box 12 months of the year.

Would like to see Gilly & the BBL regulars move over & do the BBL ...which means Warny wont!

Foxtel have a heap to chose from , somehow I think Warne will get a gig unfortunately..

Foxtel has been desperate to fil the summer hole after losing EPL to Optus, they don't have a major tenant once the AFL ends over the summer, the BBL and other cricket fills that hole.

Optus EPL deal is up again this year and its already said its paying what ever it needs for the EPl, so now with Foxtel forking out a mint for cricket the days of EPL on Foxtel are over.

9 already has the tennis back at Wimbledon and the Australian season. Anything is better than listening to Jim Courier. Will be great to hear the real voice of tennis again Fred Stolle though he's not getting any younger. Used to love listening to him and Tony Trabert.

With all the spare cash Ch 9 will have what else will they go after? We could only dream they would cover the WAFL. Maybe they will go after the NBL, A league etc....
