Interesting development, Apparently Tim Payne has come out and effectively called the South Africans liars, claiming that Warner never crossed the line with what he said, and the umpires are saying they are prepared to back the Australians side of the events.

I don't think we will ever hear the true story until someone retires and goes on the speaking circuit.

If that's the truth, then AM I apologise and you were right, he did have the right to stick up for his missus, maybe he could have done it better, however if they turn out to be the facts I'm happy to say well done for sticking to what you believed.

Agree BH both should be fined , doesn't bother me doesn't stop me watching the game , obviously some on here from the tall poppy syndrome are offended and outraged by it , they've never met the guy and yet they seem to think it's all his fault.

The South Africans are such innocent cricketers , Rabada been fined many times for sending batsman off, FAf ball tampering and lets not mention Hansie.

Great news Warner cleared to play, I suppose some on here and social media will have to support another test playing nation now.

before we get all mea culpa...let's not forget he has was apparently sledging the Cock non-stop for an hour leading up to the tea break and due to his actions has been found guilty of bringing the game into disrepute following on from a bar room punch up with Root and having a crack at Trott over his mental health issues. Warner needs to grow up and understand he's not bigger than the game. He's a great cricketer and good to watch but he's the Australian VC and with that comes responsibility.

Are you calling the bloke that kept stumps all the way through De Cocks innings a liar., I noticed you used the word apparently at the start of your post.

I'm saying Paine's view on whether the sledging was over the top or not is a subjective one...it's his opinion only. It's more relevant on whether the Cock thought it was over the top than Paine as what was Paine supposed to say that "my mate Davey ... our VC was out of line"? Conversely are you saying the saffies are liars? My point is that the match referee had access to all the players, the umpires, vision and anything else he could get his hands on and still chose to hit Warner with a grade 2 charge. Defend him all you like but his actions were lamentable as evidenced by the charges and general commentary from the likes of Ian Chappell.

And yet the umpires were out there while the sledging was going on and they didn't intervene once, I'm pretty sure Warner was charged for what happened at the tea break, lol Ian Chappell is as far away from the action as me and you, and the sides he captained had two of the biggest sledgers going around, all this noise and carry on Warner was never going to be suspended., don't know whether you watched the Saffers v India series , Kholi sledged the Saffers non stop whether like or not it's part of the game now, some players make it personal like young Cocko.

what happened with India is irrelevant....I'm basing my comments on the fact the match referee after reviewing all the available information chose to charge Warner with a serious offence which the Australians are not challenging. Your opinion and mine means nothing...the match referee's with full support of the regulator does...game over. One more minor transgression from Warner will see him suspended...he should thank his lucky stars it didn't happen this time given his record.

You still calling Tim Paine a liar after getting in front of the media and cameras , the umpires heard nothing worth reporting Warner about, nothing to do with the stump mikes he was charged from the confrontation with De Cock at the tea break.

Anyway good on Warner for standing up for his mrs I don't think any husband would stand for that,no doubt you're disappointed Warner got off.
