The common factor with this behaviour when it rears its head appears to be Warner who seems to show all the attributes of a serial bully. He is happy to abuse people but gets upset when others give him some back. The coach and/or captain need to pull him into line or if they won't do it Cricket Australia should intervene.

well said Mike...anything to add a/man?

Oh it's a funny world innit, a woman gets slagged off coz she's had a heap of "relationships", a bloke does the same and he's a bloody legend!!
I'm sure Davey knew all about his wifes past and has accepted it as she would have for his past "relationships". DW should have shown some much needed maturity and just ignored the comments and thus take the wind out of De Kocks sails. The idea of sledging is to get a reaction, if no reaction is forthcoming, they fail. As the great Glen Jakovich so eloquently once said ... 'it aint rocket surgery"

AM, sorry your right it was 15%, Lyon probably saved himself some money by as you say approaching AB and smoking the peace pipe.

In regards to the Warner De Kock issue it depends on where you read it, some say it was his sister and some say it was directed at him, its going to be he said she said just like at school, which goes back to what I said, the umpires should have stepped in and stopped it.

However, we all saw the footage and warner was happy to say lots of things, I'm not professional lip reader, but I saw what looked like words that were derogatory and would get you in trouble if they were used in the general public.

It all boils down to what we were all taught as kids, treat others as you want to be treated........The best sledges I hear when I played were the ones that left you with no comeback option, just abusing someone is just being abusive

But as you say, de Kock got the response he wanted. He didn't have to say any more.
Make no mistake I am no big fan of Warner, but because there is a kerfuffle, with him involved, why do people always assume that it is his fault.
As I said before , there are many so called Aussie who will sink the boot in at the first chance. And I mean "SO called Aussie".Sooner cut them down than build them up.

If it was said about my girl - I'd wait until I could get the culprit alone one on one & not in front of the whole world via social media
Make no mistake I am fiercely Australian but one thing I cannot stand for is unsportsmanlike behaviour regardless of situation or result

AM, your argument makes sense, but I will ask you this, why is it always Warner involved????? Its because he spent hours earlier talking sh1t and being abusive to everyone. So if he wants to play the villain he can't react when things don't go his way

I think we all need all the facts, if he was talking about De Koks family as has been reported then he opened the can of worms, If he wasn't then definitely De Kock crossed the line

Don't get me wrong, I like the bloke, I think he brings a lot to the game and I understand why he should captain the T20 side, he just needs to learn how to respond better when the heat is back on him. That video where his own players were restraining him and he was pushing them away shows he cannot control his temper, and unfortunately for him he reacted exactly how he wanted De Kock to react.

So who wins that sledging game, definitely not David.....

Don't get me wrong, it was an awesome test match to watch, and half way through day 4 either side could win, it was just that Australia played better during the key moments than South Africa.

I can't wait until Friday when they go at it again.

I think South Africa beat themselves by preparing that wicket, they have a good bowling attack as they showed in the second innings, they bowl good lines and good lengths.

IMO their spinner isn't a champion, if you bowl 30+ overs you should get wickets, and they don't reverse the ball like Starc does, but if the wicket is green ad bouncy then Rabado and Morkel can give as good chin music as the Aussies, and Vernon can be as tight and as devastating as Hazlewood.

Bring on Friday I say and they can go at it again. Id much rather watch the last 5 days cricket compared to the shit wicket dished up at the MCG over summer

Warner and De Kock have both been charged, Warner has a more serious level 2 charge to deal with which if found guilty will no doubt result in him sitting out the 2nd test especially given his previous record. De Kock will probably be fined. It really does need someone to be rubbed out to cut this crap out of the game. Sure have a go at the opposition player but when you bring family into it, that is over the line.
I hope also that the umpires are given a one game holiday for not doing their job. They must have seen and heard what was going on and they could have easily nipped it in the bud by laying down the law to the protaganists and their captains.

I dont agree that a match suspension is the answer as that only hurts the supporters and the team hit the perpetrators where it really hurts them personally in the hip pocket ($100,000 and upwards for further offences) that will stop the nonsense straight away!
