anchorman wrote: Yet again his name is raised about selection. This time in the ODI squad against the Poms.
The Eastern states media is going spare over his non inclusion.
Should he have been named or not.
The ES media are always ready to crawl all over the Marsh boys or any West Aussie named in a squad , but they have gone spare.
A couple of almost cricketers turned writers, wont say journalists, like Geeves, Nannes and Robinson have been scathing on the selectors, but haven't eaten humble pie yet and admitted they were wrong.

A/man look on the bright side: one doesn't have to listen the Geelong & Victorian centric musings of G Whateley on the ABC.

Here is what Steve Smith said about him.
"Just looking at the way he trains, I think he could train a little bit smarter," .
"We've all seen the way he can come out and play and do all his funky stuff and be pretty cool with that, but when he puts his head down he's actually a really good batsman, as we've seen in Shield cricket – he's got some big runs there"
"If he keeps his head switched on and trains really well and focuses on basic things probably more than the expansive things then I think that will help him have his consistency.
"If he's having those consistent performances he's certainly a person you want in your team."

.

Pretty clear message for him there I would have thought.

Sums it up perfectly. He spends too much time trying to be a hero with ridiculous, fancy shots and not enough playing the sensible game.

Bit harsh fellas I reckon. If you just go on his cricket he should be one of the first picked in our odi team, averages 32 with the bat at a strike rate of 123, can bowl a few overs and is a bloody good fieldsman.

D'Arcy Short looks a younger improved version of the "Big Show" .....clean hitter, bowls too and a good fielder with less fancy cricketing shots and more true clean crisp traditional cricketing shots...rather Short given a you over Maxy TBH

Not sure how this selection goes with the world cup 2019 in mind AM. Maybe the selectors feel he will add power to the batting? He will be 35 at the time of the WC
