I think that Ashton Agar would have made a massive difference tonight. In several games this year he has come on when the Scorchers have leaked runs in the Powerplay and regained control of the match by taking pace off the ball. I reckon given his usual performance, the Hurricanes would have only posted about 170 which would have been achieveable. MItch Marshs bowling was so terrible that Voges should have probably bowled an couple, I'm sure they wouldnt have gone for any more than Marsh and he might just have snuck a wicket. 211 was completely out of reach of the batsmen from the start so there is no point in blaming them for the capitulation

What was the thinking behind giving Mitch Marsh the new ball? the momentum and confidence Hobart gained from that crap dished up in the first over proved unstoppable....i bet Voges wishes he had his time over again!

Spot on BH, I thought he'd got his Mitch's mixed up.....
I notice that cretin who paints himself orange got chucked out of the stadium again tonight and has now had a 3 year ban slapped on him by Cricket Australia. Maybe he can get together with the streaker and see if they can locate a brain cell between the two of them.

Everything was wrong or went wrong.
1.Team Selection.
2.Team Tactic's.
3.Bowling,Batting,Fielding.
4.Mitch Marsh a fourth over.Unforgeable the first 3 over's went for 41.McDermott couldn't pick up the pace of the wicket. He was 6(9).By the end of the over 25(15).
The question has to be asked. Was it just a shocker by the Scorchers. Or new stadium, massive buildup, sellout.Everyone talking BBL.EastCoast media calling it a choke.

The only reason why Voges opened with Mitch Marsh which I could fathom was that he had a good bowling spell v Eng at the Optus opener....think he took a few wickets from memory and folk said Marsh's shoulder woes looked behind him.....Mitch Johnson got belted too don't forget.....just a bad game all round for the Scorchers.....like folk say unsure why Voges bowled first, but hey if he was reluctant changing past team tactics, why decide to change your opening bowler then?

As for choking?....pretty sure the E.S teams have choked a few times, year in year out playing at their home games from memory.....just a bad day at the office sadly.....

Wade's four off the first ball showed the Hurricane's intention. They opened with two TEST keepers. Most unusual but it worked. Wade set it up & McDermott + Christian finished it. They belted fours & sixes TOO many times from crap bowling.. Why no spinner?
Then many Scorchers just tossed in their wicket. How come Bresnan batted well? He didn't CHOKE.
And for those who dislike Wade great to see him Man of the Match..

I think they said on the TV last night, that is six out of 7 years the team finishing top has lost the first final and bombed out.....

They definitely missed Tye and Agar

the bowling in general was far too short. on arrival at the stadium you could see the pitch had a lot of green about it and I think that lured the bowlers into thinking they were going to get a lot of pace and bounce. it did show a bit but certainly wasn't like a WACA pitch of 30 years ago. first time for me at the stadium and it's certainly world class. I would have liked to see the bowling speeds on the score board as I think Richardson's first over was pretty quick but it was not to be ....maybe they can hook into the Ch Ten/Fox link and show it next BBL season. One last thing, the transport to and from was first class...I got on the 659 special events bus to Freo out the front of the stadium and was home in Attadale 30 minutes later...brilliant.

The game was all over by the time that Bresnan got to the wicket so I think the Hurricanes may have been cruising a bit by that stage. It was the poor bowling that cost the Scorchers the game. The batsmens mindset would have been totally different had they been chasing 170 - 180.
