Bangladeshi champion Shakib Al Hasan is a top class all rounder gtr.
They have a decent spin attack but as Dazz posted world cricketers must lick their lips at bowling to our hopeless against spin, seam, swing batting line up!

I wonder if Lehemann will be writting anymore letters? Honestly, people, they were lucky to get within twenty runs. We should remember that in our first innings, they dropped one of our tail enders whom helped our first innings to look respectable; we should have been a lot further behind. As we have said before only four players are test standard:

Lyon
Starc not in this test?
Warner
Smith

the other opener has potential
Hazelwood tries hard.

the rest don't even star at Shield level.

well done East Pakistan.

Can't change the way the Aussies play BH.But Cricket Australia might get there big TV deal.An American broadcaster called CBS has just bought Channel 10.There big on live sports. The only big Free to Air contract up for grabs is next year's Australian Cricket Summer.
Of topic I know and won't help us in Bangladesh. But could be a big cash injection for AU Cricket.

I don't really think Matt Wade should be in the team either but in his defence in this game, that pitch was an absolute disgrace, it was playing tricks on day 1 and the Bangladesh keeper let through 22 byes in the game as well.
Well done to Bangladesh and particularly Shakib who proved himself a all rounder of rare ability. Yes he is a real all rounder because his batting is up to test standard and his bowling is up to test standard, unlike Maxwell whose is not up to standard in either discipline. Why this obsession Australia have with picking any all rounder and batting him at 6 is beyond me. Same for Mitch Marsh, how was he considered up to test cricket? At least Shane Watson was a useful bowler.
Much better IMO to have a recognised batsman at number 6, someone like Travis Head can provide as many part time overs as Maxwell did anyway.
As for Usman, there is no doubt that he has the ability and technique to play test cricket, but I question his ability to read game situations and adapt his game and more specifically his shot selection to take account of the position his team is in.

Didn't the Australian captain say prior to the match that he didn't know why the Bangladesh team were confident going into this match?

And now the selectors have named Stephen O'keeffe as the replacement for Hazlewood, when they already have 3 spinners in the squad and only two pace bowlers (Cummins and Bird). Apparently the pitch at Chittagong is more inclined to favour pace than Dhaka, so picking O'Keeffe is totally nonsensical.

mikeh: you are so right -- there is profound continuity of stupidity regarding test selections datting all the way back to 1877.

Australia played 3 spinners the last time they played in Chittagong, so three spinners will need to play again.

Why don't they drop Maxwell and have a look at swepson? If the pitch is spinning a leggie could be good to watch. Agar could bat at 6
