Invers is a plonker simple as that, no matter how many degrees the fella may have, he really is your typical academic, he does seem to have no common sense......no matter what Steve Waugh says, the English are gonna hammer Australia in the ashes, I hope they do, so the likes of Invers and Arthurs can be pissed off.....that list really sums up the state of Aussie cricket right at this present point in time.

I really really hope only a handful of those contracted players actually get a plane ticket to the UK in June.......

Doherty gets a contract as he is the one day spinner, they play something like 9 one dayers and a few 20/20's before the next Aussie summer even starts so he had to get a contract..

Bird is the only unlucky omission, not sure who Freezin thinks should have got a contract ahead of those nominated but the standard of Shield batting is a joke so it cant be any of the young contenders as the best batters in the Shield were Ponting and Rogers..

??????

Its a Contract worth money not an aggreement he has to play.

He's 19, Ponting played Test Cricket at 20 and look how good he turned out to be.

If he's that good grab him now get him on the list and start to expose him. He is probably better than half the blokes on that list now.

the squad is weighted to go across the 3 formats so Bird probably got ranked behind Johnson as he isnt in the one-day squad..
as Ed Cowan showed last year once you make the test team it only takes a few games to get upgraded so Bird will end up with one anyway if he stays fit, should be ideal for England...

Maxwell is the one who seems the luckiest..

Yep so you just gave me the reasoning for X Doherty getting a contract for the One Day Squad mainly
