Given that Brett Peake retired after the match on Saturday, I just wanted to recognise what he has achieved, reflect a little on his career and invite others to do the same if they wish.

It's always tough to follow in the footsteps of an illustrious father and whilst its fair to say that he never reached the dizzy heights of Brian, Brett still etched himself out a very polished career in both the AFL and WAFL. 75 games for the Dockers over 5 years and 43 for St Kilda in 3 years and another 120 games for the Sharks.

As a Swans supporter my most vivid memory of him was the last quarter of the 2014 first semi final when he was an integral part of what became an avalanche of goals going to East Fremantles end in what felt like a 45 minute quarter. Who knows if the Sharks could have kicked straight in the Preliminary final a week later, he may have had a premiership to add to his list of accolades.

In the state game at Bassendean last year, Brett gave everyone another reminder of how good he was with a seven goal haul. I'm sure Sharks supporters who have seen a lot more of him than me can remember many other great performances that he had for them.

Good luck to him on whatever the next chapter of his life brings.

Thanks for just ruining my evening mikeh in bringing up the 2014 1st Semi  I have reminded Stuart Parry about that game a number of times..

Well played SOB...in hindsight probably played 3 games more than he needed to....but after the season he had in 2016 you can't blame him for donning the boots again....

Peakey looked greyer than me out there on Saturday. After losing to a team down at the bottom of the ladder with about a third of the side being kids from last years colts might have made him think maybe I'm holding up an opportunity for a young kid to start his league career?

Always played the game with great spirit and fairness and got the best out of himself. Well played Brett Peake.
