I am being realistic. Isn't Fitzpatrick a West Australian? How has that worked out for the WAFL?

When Fitzpatrick originally became Chairman I was optimistic that being a West Aussie, a former WAFL star, who's father was a former WAFL umpire there might be some benefit to WA footy as opposed to the previous Vic blinkered head but I have to say Fitzpatrick has been a huge disappointment in the role. For the AFL(VFL) to only put in $2 million a year into WA football is nothing short of a disgrace. Interestingly his replacement Goyder is also a West Aussie with a WAFL link let's all hope he doesn't forget his roots like his contemporary.

Id give Goyder a crack, i think he'll surprise

the position is just a figure head from an operational perspective ...like Wally Edwards with Cricket Australia. Fitzy had little to do with the day to day running and overall direction ...he more looked after high level stuff around governance and risk etc...hence his involvement with the Essendon saga.

Goddard might find himself in a bit of trouble over that tweet. Based on previous AFL responses to this sort of stuff. I really don't understand why players would use social media to express these sorts of views when they know what the consequences are likely to be.
Just imagine if the CEO of the organisation I work for made a public statement about the companies operations. I disagree with this statement and therefore fire out a tweet disparaging the CEO and his comment. I reckon I would not be working for that organisation next week. Fair or not its a reality of life and Goddard is an employee of the AFL
