Back to the real summer sport that being cricket unfortunately a first up loss at our bogy ground at Eden Park Auckland, we just cant seem to win there of late even though we have gone awfully close a number of times.
Hats off to Marcus Stoinis who played one of the best one day innings I have seen in a long time in single handedly keeping us in with even a slight chance with some enormous sixes in his 146* off only 100 odd balls including 10 sixes after taking 3 for 49 with the ball in the NZ innings.
Not sure what Josh Hazlewood was thinking in backing up way too far in the final wicket run out to leave us 6 runs short.

Geez that was a great fightback fron 7 / 70 odd to lose by 6......Cummins giving up 16 to Boult in that 50th over cost Aust dearly.....yeah the top order were to blame....but hey with Finch, S Marsh in the top 3 sums up Aust dependence upon Warner n Smith.....Heazlet on debut wasnt expected to do much......Stoinis was fantastc, hopefully it can kick start his career like Symonds did in South Africa many moons ago with a similar score....

NZ were at full strength and snuck over the line v a depleted Aust batting order, takes away any bragging rights they may think they have with that win.....Santner taking 3 worries me.....he is no where in the class of Ashwin et al and Australia struggled to get him away.... S Marsh dismissal was pathetic.....whilst Fat boy Finch shouldnt be anywhere near this team....Klinger would of been a better choice...even Voges.....

Maybe we (as in WA) should make a play to get Stoinis back home at the WACA.
We have lost far too many blokes to Vic of late for my liking it would be nice to get one back!

I wonder if they might have discarded Bailey a little too quickly. I know he hasn't been in the best of form this summer and he probably won't be around for the next world cup but he could have been the batsman to anchor the innings today while Stoinis did his work. Could have also captained the team in the absence of Smith and Warner

Before I forget again those that were putting forward the case for Handscomb to be the no.1 wicketkeeper to strengthen our batting in India may want to watch a replay of todays game against NZ!

Another see saw game which Australia threw away when they had it at their mercy. The difference was that Taylor hung in there and got his century when the pitch became tougher to bat on whereas many of the Aussies were guilty of getting starts and then playing horrible shots. Head, Finch and Stoinis all got beyond 40 and pretty much handed their wickets to the Kiwis on a platter. Marsh's run out was very poor game awareness when he didn't need to run that 2nd with a dodgy hamstring. Boult bowled very well but the Aussies should have been able to get the runs from the other bowlers who were pretty ordinary.

Mike Marsh's run out was just dumb mindless cricket by him (not for the first time). We were absolutely cruising along until he ridiculously tried to make a 2 out of a safe 1 run.

2nd OD XI Grassy? FMD it's Aussies like you who make my daily life in NZ a pain in the arse......pretty sure Hazlewood , Starc, Cummins and Faulkner are Aust best ODI bowlers...disppoints me NZ can make 275 plus scores TBH......take out Warner and Smith and Aust batting looks pretty thin......

Worries me a great deal if Santner can take wickets and he doesnt even spin it....Ashwin is gonna kill us......soft cock batting once again.......and once again WHAT IS THE POINT in Shaun Marsh playing for Australia.....I am sick of his inept brain fades and soft tissue injuries......why do folk like Langer, Lehmann etc rate him so highly?...beats me.....the guy needs to be cast adrift......Klinger waits 18 years for an Aust gig......and both Marsh boys simply fart in a BBL, Matador or Shield match and they are picked in OZ teams in a flash......they are no better then their average father.......drives me nuts......everyone rants on about NSW boys getting easy Aust selections....pretty sure Mitch, Shaun and Geoff Marsh are WA born n bred!
