Well we are all across this long standing unsolved mystery. I had lost hope this bloke would ever be caught and thought he's either dead or living abroad. Incredible to think he was living a seemingly normal family life as an upstanding citizen receiving awards from former treasurer and Premier Eric Ripper for 10 years of service as a volunteer at a little athletics club.

Incredible to think this guy has been working with young children. What must the parents be thinking who's kids have been under his wing at that little athletics club? Unbelievable. Hopefully, if he is the guilty culprit and he is also responsible for the death of Sarah Spiers, he will fess up and show the place he disposed of her body and give that family some closure.

The next big unsolved murder that really rocked this city hopefully will not take 20 years to solve. The murder of Corryn Rayney.

The thing that struck me DD was how much of a normal life this guy was leading. If he is guilty the dog acts he has committed would have been at the back of his mind for over 20 years and yet he has got on with his life as if nothing has happened.

Knowing the brother of one of the girls and the pain and suffering he's been through, I'm glad they've caught the murdering bastard.

guys...the authorities have asked that conversation on social media in relation to this be suspended as they don't want any ammunition for the defence to say the jury has preconceived ideas around guilt....I'm not sure anyone reading OzFooty will be called for jury duty but you never know....so my suggestion is to call this thread off as of now.

BC after naming, charging and showing the identity of the man and details about his life and the Commissioner explaining in clear detail the offences the police allege he committed, I hardly think a bit of general commentary on this forum is going to jeopardize a fair trial.

Unless of course someone was to claim to have knowledge and make public statements then I'm sure admin would deal with it. The police seem pretty confident they have got the right man.

Nothing said here or anywhere else will make a scrap of difference, the Q needs to asked why were the police so inept for 20 odd years?? Plus in that time trying to frame 3 others for the offence, there should be a Royal commission into it tbh

I chatted to an ex copper yesterday who had a bit to do with the case. He took the call that reported one of the victims missing and the next day the Macro Task Force was formed. He shed some light on how he thought the bloke charged was caught. Interesting stuff. It's all about the science of DNA data matching.

Advances in DNA testing will mean a lot more cases like this get solved. New technology to extract DNA from old evidence, the past will catch up with a lot more Crim's.

And doesn't have to be the DNA of the perpetrator himself it could be a close relative who's DNA has shown up that leads them to the eventual person.
