Most of us on Oz Footy Net have owned a Falcon or had a friend or relative that owned a Aussie made Ford.Falcon ,Territory,Cortina,Capri,Escort,Fairlane,LTD,Panel van, 2 door hardtop,,Ute.Or just been in a Taxi.
Ford starting building cars in AU in 1925.Henry Ford used the same blue prints from his original factory to build the same factorys all over the world. So the Geelong factory was engineered to cope with 4 metres of snow on the roof :cheer:
Ford started building the Falcon in 1960 and production ended today. The last few Falcon models didnt sell that well but they built over 3,400,000 Falcons in 57 years. The Falcon was also assembled in North Fremantle between 1960-69.The Freo factory was open between 1930-69.
They built 9 generations of Falcons in 57 years...1960-66,,,66-72,,1972-79 was the first Australian designed and engineered generation.Without the Americans help.,,79-1988,,,88-98..1998-2008,,and the 9th generation 2008-2016.
The Falcon models where XK,,XL,.XM,,XP,,XR,,XT,,XW,,XY,,XA,,XB,,XC,,XD,,EA,,EB,,ED,,EF,,EL,,AU,,BA,,BF,,FG,,FGX.
The most famous thing done by Ford in there 91 years in Australia.A farmers wife wrighting to ford Australia asking for a car to go to church on Sundays and the pig market on Monday.A 22 year old engineer from Adelaide named Lewis Bandt came up with the ute in 1934.

Yes very sad to see Australian icons disappear. I've had a few Fords and my current car is a BF (last of the series 2008),Falcon wagon with factory gas. She drives like a dream. Prior to that I had an XF (95 I think from memory) and I think that was also last of the XF series. A rare column shift automatic with a front bench seat that could fold down in the middle to form an arm rest.

Oh nearly forgot, also bought one of their real classics, the Ford Marquis. Was great to drive from Perth to Kal. A real cruiser and favourite with the cockies.

My ex fell in love with an EB in a yard one day, beautiful car to drive but a bit of a lemon. The EA's and EB's had a few problems with wheel alignment, transmission and cracked heads.
Get on your bike.
It was Adam and Eve not Adam and Steve.
