Rick Davies played 20 games and kicked 37 goals for Hawthorn in 1981 his only year in the VFL as a 29yo. These days those figures in a season would be lauded.

I remember Noel 'Charlie' Carter still had a lace up number back in the 80s and maybe a couple of other SF boys as well your boys also were the club who first had the players names on the backs and a small number on the front in the same era Southy!

Yeah Dale Reeves had one , Greg Cavanagh a few years later , I think Wayne Delmenico wore one too for a while , Jamie Lockyer for a while , Paul Arnold had one in number 18 , Tony Kelly number 51 again a short while

They were pretty costly I believe

Yep, he still lives in WA by the looks of things

www.adelaidenow.com.au/sport/afl/expert-...c1ee8cda519f0c0d99d6

Imagine, a player like that living in WA all this time and he's never been involved in footy here....what a waste

I might try and get in touch with him and do an interview for ozfooty over a beer or two

Good idea LH one thing I remember from that interview back 15 years or so ago was that Rick was a great character who would be the life of the party.
The idiots at the WAFC wouldnt even know who the 'Jumbo Prince' is as he never played for either WCE or Freo!

I think Rick Davies had something to do with the Education Dept or was/is a Teacher - this was something I vaguely remember in an article many years ago somewhere

It may be a starting point for you
