Claremont and Peel moved to Medibank on Saturday because the surface has not met standard.

Not sure of others, but haven't heard of any venue change on the main stream radio or tv? Not unless I've missed it?

Three games against Claremont at Basso this year: something to look forward to given the surface is too bad to play on this week end. Given the state of the ground when we play there last year the WAFC is VERY, VERY lucky they didn't have a law suit on their hands last year.

anchorman wrote: What is the complaint here.It appears they haven't played a game there so far this season any way.
is n't the name of the game to look after the players!!!! Regardless of whether they are AFL or WAFL players.
Maybe the surface is still a way away from being of playing standard
Mossy didn't seem concerned.
But easy to blame the Dockers.A turf expert has stated the grass is not up to playing standard.

A/man the surface at the Claremont Showgrounds last year when Swans played was an ABSOLUTE DISGRACE. It wasn't good enough in my opinion for cattle let alone to play footy on. I would also point out in the article the AFL aligned players were mentioned in terms of THEIR SAFETY (my emphasis); there didn't appear to be the same concern last year for MERE WAFL frooty players (my emphasis). In my opinion if it had been a game between two non-aligned clubs the fixture WOULD HAVE BEEN (my emphasis) played at the Showgrounds.

What I have said in no way pre-judges whether the surface is good enough or not. That is a complete non sequitur.

Grassy wrote: The playing surface at LEEDERVILLE is Diabolical when it rains incessantly, but never once was there any suggestion from the WAFC to relocate matches from there to any other venue recently.

Swan hit the Nail on the head. It's one thing to show concern for AFL player Safety, another not to extend the same courtesy to other clubs. We've had 3 Clear incidents where the AFL Clubs have had players pulled from a game or a game relocated.

It simply illustrates another disruption the WA AFL Clubs are to the WAFL.Only a matter of time before the Crescendo of Protest from The Club Boards becomes impossible for the WAFC to brush off and Ignore.

Grassy the reason for leedo being a bad wet weather surface as I understand it is due to the request/demand by the AFL clubs to have the oval resurfaced and the subsoil to be along the lines of a heavy clay based Victorian style surface ie it drains poorly , so the AFL tarts could use it if needed to aclimatise to Vic grounds, which seems ludicrous given the only grounds over there they play on are bowling greens like the "G", Etihad and to a lesser extent Geelong, so we end up with a ground that has the heaviest use of any WAFL venue by far and the worst drainage. It looked great during the pre-season games but it deteriorates rapidly as we get into the real wet weather. It a wonder that WC have not since demanded it be resurfaced back to a proper West Aust style well draining sand based surface to protect their EP based tarts.
