Maybe that's old news Smokey. I don't see any mention of Jones in this latest update on The West online.

Yes OK, but it is disturbing that he is the only non Essendon player to appear on the gallery.

I know Essendon aren't particularly well endowed with IQ but I would be extremely surprised they would stupid enough to waste two of their ten picks on two 30 something plus taggers.....sleep easy Perth fans Jones won't be picked up as a top player, he is a hasbeen tagger well past his sell by date.....at the elite level that is .....

And I think we are safe as far as Tropiano goes. I doubt Essendon would take a chance on someone with no AFL experience and I also doubt the AFL would approve of it. If they could choose anyone they could pick up the best 18 or 19 year old in the country. Won't happen, there are too many delisted and recently retired AFL players to pick from.

Yes, good points DD though I don't think that Essendon would want to pick up 18 or 19 year olds. The top-up players are until 31 October only. Those younger players who are going to take time to develop wont be much use to them in 2016.

DD...rest easy my friend...the rules around top up players is they must have been on an ALF list in the last two years...so Troppo and young up and comers are off the table.

I don't think those rules would apply anyway, if Essendon wanted Tropiano they would get him the AFL have bent over backwards for the Dons so far, a adhoc rule won't stop them.

There is no rule which stops their vfl affiliated side from picking anybody up so a loophole there
