Great to see 121,000 at Adelaide for 3 days. Pity the WACA crowd stayed home. Perhaps they should drop the Perth Test as NO ONE goes..

LS try comparing oranges with oranges. On that basis you are going to get rid of the Brisbane test for the same reason? If you were going to have a day-night test match I would have thought that the Perth test would have been the most obvious one. Secondly, maybe if CA and/or WACA chose to charge a more reasonable amount than the $105.00 they charged for some seats they MIGHT just get a few more patrons. Thirdly, if they gave the curator the opportunity to prepare a true "WACA pitch" it might be a more interesting match.

It will never happen 42 as the TV ratings for the Perth Test are massive on the east coast as it is beamed back in prime time over there $$$$$$$

I didn't suggest it would happen. Also, speaking of mea culpa are you and G Whately going to indulge in same vis a vis S Marsh?

No chance 42 SOS couldnt even hang in to the end to see us through to the line instead getting out with another wishy washy dismissal leaving it up to our tail enders to finish it off and dont get me started on Mitch's brain fade yet again! The brothers do have talent but not the temperament to be long term Test successes!
As for your mate Whateley all I will say is I hope they took blood samples from his beloved galloper BC as the trainer hasnt fired a shot since being charged with high cobalt readings!

People want to say ... yes I was there for the first night test match. Very hard to compete against that with normal test match cricket.
I also think that the promise of something for the bowlers could have given people reason to think that this was not going to be a batting test, but a more even contest.
I heard them talking about the WACA a couple of Saturdays ago, they were saying that since they installed the new drainage system there, the wicket has never been the same. The drainage is down ,I think they said eight feet. This is not allowing the moisture to stay in the wicket and surrounds. So maybe the days of the genuine WACA wicket is dead and buried. Could the location near the river give a spark of life to the wicket at the new stadium?

Big novelty factor for this first DN test but I think they will get better crowds than normal in the future bit not to the same extent. they need to use the DN tests for those tests that don't fall within the school holiday period. The Melbourne and Sydney tests always get that gift so don't need the benefit of a DN test as numbers are always good. the DN allows people to come after work or maybe an early knock off without losing the whole work day.

The Perth test was at the mercy of the weather which was scorchingly hot and there is little cover at the WACA so why go and roast yourself for 7 hours and pay big $$ to do so when you can watch it on the box. People will only do that if it's an ashes test. As for the pitch, they will be drop-ns at the new stadium, they are already prepared and maturing over at Glouster park so will be a few years old by the time they get used but, drop ins generally favour the batters so we may lose that classic WACA feature, that being said if Adelaide oval can produce a bowlers wicket then anyone can, all done to protect the pink pill.

Bit harsh on SMarsh second or third highest score of the test match that hugely favoured the bowlers, Mitch was probably under instructions to score as quickly as possible before the pink pill took over as dusk set in, but they will both need to score good runs against the Windies which they should as it's almost their 2nd eleven.

Mitch Marsh is a dud mate, and Shaun has been given chances over others he probably hasn't deserved over the years, his first class record doesn't set the world on fire for a test batsman, only made 18 first class tons in 114 games averaging only 38 ..he should have blasted 40 odd tons in that time and averaging 50 for all the ability he has got
Beneath the Southern cross i stand, on Bassendean Oval, can in hand, Swan Districts, you Farkin Beauty!

The stats dont lie mate & Mitch's avg would be even worse  ..with Shaun I have no doubt that most of it is mental as he seems very nervous when trying to get off the mark and or nearing a milestone and more often then not it gets the better of him as those stats would suggest also!

Perth was dropped off the test scene recently was it not?

Fact is the WACA only pulls a crowd during the Ashes, no one goes otherwise bar a few old fart WACA members, the other NZ test matches were poorly attended as well, the Adelaide Oval game was a freak attendace due to experimentation, the bottom line is this is not just a local problem but an international one, test match attendances are in free fall, in the West Indies its pretty much dead, India struggles, The Ashes pull a crowd here and the UK, but its the traditional novelty value that keeps that going. Packer started the decline in test Cricket.
