We could all have a new PM tonight...I'm backing MT as I think he'll cream Labor at the next election whereas the mad monk will struggle and the last thing we want is Labor back in power.

BC it might come as no surprise that I am hoping that T Abbott is returned as the Liberal leader. If MT does win then I hope that:

P Dutton, S Morrison, M Corman et al enjoy their time on the backbench.

BC the problem with your choice of MT is that he isn't liked by his colleagues and if he does become PM then you can rest assured that the following will occur:

(i) the NBN will be changed to FTTN;
(ii) the number of refugees taken by Australia will be increased;
(iii) the ETS is back on the agenda,
(iv) the republic debate is back on the agenda;
(v) there will be an conscience vote on gay marriage;
(vi) there will be a general election within the next three months;
(vii) T Abbott will be resigning from the House of Reps in the next week;
(v) Julie Bishop will be the Deputy PM under M Turnbull.

Why hasn't C Pyne, A Robb etc publicly supporting T Abbott?

Can't wait to hear what Paul Murray (Sky News) has to say when his favoured T Abbott is rolled. His lip is getting lower and lower as he gets more and more desperate.

the socialists will come out of the woodwork now. the trouble is that turnbull has factions and he leans to the left where tone is real right winger. anyway im more interested in policies not personalities and we will see what turnbull will bring. im a rusted liberal but turnbull stuffed the NBN and remember ute-gate.

Swan I know your a rusted on Labor man, but I'm hoping MT gets the nod, extreme right wingers like Abbott or extreme left wingers like the union beholden Shorten are not what Australia needs, MT is more centre-right in policy style and direction, a liberal with a social conscience, someone I can happily support, he's more articulate and comfortable with the media and polls have shown he is much more accepted by female voters than Abbott. He does have a rep as being arrogant but what party leader isn't to some extent. At least we know he's not there to line his pockets, he's been out in the real world and made his own money so hopefully that means he's there to make a difference in politics not a career as a way to a fat pension like so many others.

He will have learnt from past attempts that he will need to be more consultative and inclusive with his colleagues, he's a smart operator so will make the adjustments if he gets the gig. He and Bishop will make a formidable team. The libs back benchers are getting very nervous and losing patience with Abbott & Hockey so there's a good chance that they will roll the incumbent.

We've been so poorly served by recent leaders of both persuasions so hoping if this change happens then some real and sensible change can happen and as a new face the senate will be less obstructive with a leader that was not the obstructionist that Abbott was to Labor during their tenure.

T Abbott has about 15 minutes left to go of his Prime Ministership.

I await with interest whether people like 58S will make comments about blood on MT's hands similar to the ones they made about Bill Shorten? Who are the faceless assassins of the Liberal Party?
