La Hinch - there are buses that do exactly what you mentioned, no govt is going to spend money on something when a bus can do pretty much the same job for far less cost..

Yeah I guess so. They need to make the 423 service more frequent then and better known. So many backpackers and tourists at Warwick Station ask me how to get to the Marina nowadays.

Yeah one of them is the 423. I catch it to get home. They need to put up a big sign at Warwick Station saying "Hillarys Boat Harbour Bus Here". I don't mind tourists asking however.

Trains don't get stuck in gridlock traffic.

Yes true. Also come to think of it, the 423 bus that does go from the train line to the boat harbour winds it's way through Sorrento at a snail's pace. Nothing wrong with that of course - it services people who live in the area rather than people going to the beach, but a direct train line from Greenwood would take 2-3 minutes instead of the 20-25 which it does at the moment.

If we don't have the money then no place in the world does.

Somehow things get done elsewhere. Even many second world cities have better transport infrastructure than Perth.

Not just rail either. A lot of these places have managed to build extensive underground systems.

We've got to get some of these cars off the roads here. It's getting beyond a joke and in 20 years time it will be nearly impossible to get anywhere if we don't act now.

I'd put a fully extensive railway network into Perth before I'd redevelop Claremont or Riverside Drive.

the horse has bolted on your wish LaHincha

the fact is we dont have the money to build what you are talking about..

Transport is a big focus for the media as it generates a lot of complaints and is easy copy for them..

Of course the money exists. We are one of the wealthiest state/provincial economies in the world.

The horse has never bolted when it comes to planning ahead.

If we don't do it now, it will be almost impossible for future generations to get around Perth. It's already bad enough.
