The WAAFL State season kicks off again this Wednesday night with both the 23s and 19s starting their respective programs.
The 23s first session will be at City Beach Oval with a 6.15pm start. The 23s season is highlighted by a trip to Tasmania to play in the AAFC Championships in July.
At the last AAFC Carnival back in 2011 WA made it to the final before going down to a strong Victorian side. Still hope is high that the WA boys can go one better in 2015 and take the crown in Tasmania.
The 19s first session will be at Burrendah Reserve in Willeton with a 6.00pm start. Invites have been sent to players whom selectors have identified as targets however the first two sessions of the 19s program are open for all WAAFL 19s footballers to come and test their skills.
The 19s team was winless in 2014, but has had some recent success with former players of the program in Hayden Tanner playing league football at Perth and Matt Baseden and Josh McAskil playing reserves football at East Fremantle and Peel respectively.
The level of talent at WAAFL level is as high as it has ever been and both coaches are hopeful of putting together strong squads in 2015. Will look to keep the OZFooty community updated on the goings on of the program again this year.
