Don't necessarily agree with all your points unk, but if that's your opinion, so be it. Everyone has the right to be wrong

You've said that you don't like or watch this brand of cricket and that's your choice. But let me tell you unk, you've missed a whole heap of sporting excitement this particular year.

I see where you come from 58,though its hard to ignore grown men putting carboard buckets on their heads all the same. if its entertainment i want i will go to the movies etc, not watch 20/20. Yes it is exciting then again so is WWC . I just watch with amazement what the general public will "believe in" and watch. Thats all fair enough as i know that cricket will never be the game it was. Thats the way it is i know. Sports like basketall soccer have stayed true to thier origins as probably has rugby.

I disagree mate test cricket will still be number one in Australia, England and SA other countries I'm not to sure, our domestic big bash is a good fill in over the Xmas break and new year and then it's back to shield cricket.

PN -- Correct.

20-20 is a shorter limited version of the game and therefore inferior to the Shield and Tests. What I find interesting is that people have not noticed how slow 20-20 compared to first-class cricket. Goodness, the number of times captains change the field is amazing, and it all takes a lot of time. IN traditional cricket, the game flows because captains tell bowlers to bowl properly rather than changing the field every ball or so.

Anchorman -- that is true. I am just holding out to win the shield. How long has it been? 15 years?

..as youngsters we loved test cricket BECAUSE that's all we had to watch!....you can't tell me folk wouldn't of watched Sir Viv, Greenidge, Lloyd etc play T20 if it had been around in our day?.....they would of killed it big time.....Roberts,Marshall, Garner, Ambrose etc would of been impossible to get away too.....would of been great to watch!

Unka nearly every traditional sport these days has an alternative version of their game to entice more interest....rugby has touch, sevens, nines, tag etc.....soccer has indoor, futsal, beach etc, grid iron has arena and touch.... it's a big wide world out there and tradition over the ages will always get some what blurred...and in the end everyone has a different boat to float......even it means wearing a bucket on your head!

You are quite correct freezin, and perhaps i was being a tad too simplistic. All those variaions you mentioned are hardly the "beaming light" ( pun intended) of thier variations, ( indoor soccer , rughby 7's) , 20/20 IS the cricket that future generations will take on board i suspect. As i said its the "meaning" of sport as i know it that gets eroded, in the guise of entertainment. Thats the way it is, and is going. I accept that, BUT despise it. I regard 20/20 in the same boat as wwe, talented sports people EnterTAINING the masses. Some people out thier believe the hype of WWE in regards to its
being the real thing too

I guess if T20 engages a future Warne/McGrath to play the game instead of another sport, isn't that a good outcome?......look at the WI cricket predicament......all the prospective Richards, Greenidges, Garners etc went to the glitz, & glam of basketball and soccer instead....hopefully T20 can get a few youngsters interested initially in the sport of cricket and then a natural progression follows.... who knows?.......yeah their techniques might be a alternative to say the least, but the good ones will mentally adapt and succeed at test cricket...

yeah the traditionalists and purists of cricket will struggle with the glitz and glam of T20, but hey isn't great to see all the youngsters at the games with their mums/dads/friends etc instead at home glued to a farkin xbox, laptop or some other piece of technology?

David Warner was one that started in Twenty20 for both NSW and Australia before progressing through the ranks.

Spot on, you can only watch what is offered. Make no mistake, if 20/20 was around way back then we all would be fans (even you unk :P ) As for the WIndies, my God, how scary would they have been back then in this form of the game
