TOPIC:

Having a sporting feast this summer, what with the tennis, soccer Asian Cup, BBL, test series, tri-nations (Eng, India & Aust) next followed by the ODI World Cup.
Finding the BBL is making Channel 9's commentators look/sound stale/boring/sanitised.
The BBL is akin to what World Series Cricket was in the late 70s.
Channel 9's current team of Nicholas, Taylor, Slater, Hussey, Healy,Warne,Chappell & Lee is too much of a closed boys club. I realise the role that Ian Chappell played during the WSC revolution and that Packer/Channel 9 owe him, but I find him boring/dull and often repetitive, repetitive.....repetitive
Warne on the other hand, is a breath of fresh air, the consumate bogan (Cashed Up Bogan), loved his "Dirty Rotten Pizza" diatribe. The others are boring.
The BBL has shown what a difference overseas commentators can make, KP, Freddie and Sir Viv are a marketing coup, a breath of fresh air. The glamour/talent of Mel (in particular) and Roz add the "eye candy" factor (read pulls in the dirty old men audience). I mean seriously, who'd you rather have as a boundary line interviewer (both audience and players) Mel or Goss????
Enjoyed Bill Lawry's one off, that's perhaps what Chappell should do, bow out.
Channel 9 (boring/politically correct or Channel Mel??? No brainer.

Its been good having new faces doing the BBL Freddy in particular was a laugh taking the piss out of Ponting a few weeks ago.

Warne is the same as all at Channel nine ( ego and me me me all the time). Whats worse is the unnecessary "barracking" for the Aussie team. just bloody commentate, THATS yer job, NOT barracking!!

No diff to Ch 7 and foxtel and thier stupide barrackng ad nausem for either the underdog, or thier fav team, yes i am talking the Vic commentators against the Wa/Sa teams as well

Sir Viv is the best, would love to hear him tell more stories from his playing days.....
